Okay, I've officially maxed out for this sale. Pretty excited about my haul and can't wait to start watching. Ended up with the following additions to my small collection.

Rosemary's Baby
Anatomy of a Murder
Mystery Train
The Game
Repo Man
Badlands
The 39 Steps

Kiss Me Deadly
Anatomy of Murder
Charade
Lady Vanishes
Sweet Smell of Success
400 Blows
The Lady Vanishes is my favorite on that list. I'd definitely purchase that, as well as The 400 Blows, Anatomy Of A Murder, and Charade.

I think I paid 10, so I'm not really complaining, but I would like to see it get some admirable treatment down the road.

Great great movie. I'd love to upgrade Night Train to Munich to Blu-ray someday.

If you like Mystery Train enough, consider Renting Jim Jarmusch's Stranger than Paradise

Did you buy the stand alone echo bridge, 3 pack or 6 pack?

hello people,

im new to this forum, first post!

i was considering if i should start to "collect" criterion for a while now, no matter if this implies buying a region free blu ray player soon (europe...)
but everyone seems to be fascinated by the quality releases of CC, so i will have a closer look soon...

so, this sale really got me into searching the films i dont have yet in european blu-ray editions,

this is what i've ordered:

the lady vanishes
charade
anatomy of a murder
repulsion
39 steps
12 angry men
great dictator
gold rush
the man who knew too much
amarcord
sweet smell of success
the killing
paths of glory
zazie dans le metro
diabolique
weekend (godard)
the night of the hunter
branded to kill
tokyo drifter
seven samurai
harakiri
pale flower
yojimbo/sanjuro
rosemary's baby
the seventh seal
vivre sa vie
modern times
solaris
crumb
a man escaped
the wages of fear
kiss me deadly
orpheus

i doubt there is a film in this list i won't like.

I wasn't trying to give a completist take on Jarmusch. Down by Law is good but falls short of the glory of Stranger than Paradise, Dead Man & Broken Flowers to name a few...

Just the stand alone release.

I watched it two nights ago and enjoyed it enough. I think the second segment pales in comparison to the other two, but it wasn't enough to ruin the film.

His style is a bit quirky, but not as much as, say, Wes Anderson. His films actually feel like they are tethered to the real world

It's funny that Mystery train didn't get that much love back in the day. I love Pulp Fiction, but I feel this one more effectively utilizes a similar type of non-linear structure.

Come back and tell us what you think of them!

Oh, because one of the films in the multi-pack features the amazing Asia Argento (Boarding Gate).

I would advise against this. For me, Tree of Life is an amazing trip through other people's personal memories that has a profound way of letting me feel their emotions myself. It's an experience that very few films can match for me.

The good news though is that even if the film doesn't grab you on an emotional level like it does me, the cinematography is so good that that alone makes at least one viewing well worth it.

Man, things move super fast when there is a giant sale going on.

I have not placed an order yet () but probably will this weekend before it ends.

Really happy to see all the new people jumping into the collection though, welcome!

This place is really hopping lately. The more, the merrier!

I'll be interested to read everyone's thoughts about the new purchases. I always envy people who have not yet seen favorite movies of mine that I've watched dozens of times, and it's fun to read the first impressions.

even if you don't buy anything during the 50% sales they are great to experience blind buys. chances are someone is going blind buy a criterion cause they though they would like it or they heard great things about the movie

let's say they wind up hating it, now chances are they will want another criterion in trade for the one they didn't like

it's a cheap way to explore new criterion
