Glenn Ford, who is also featured in the Criterion Collection in the recent 3:10 to Yuma release, plays a detective who assists Remick in the brutal cat-and-mouse game.
Experiment in Terror moves effortlessly fast for a 1962 movie, and the tension never lets up. It's a great little thriller, and a pivotal scene in the movie was a big influence on the first Dirty Harry film.

I'm not sure how many copies of Experiment in Terror are left, but there are still a few available, so it's good to bring it to everyone's attention.

Cool avatar, by the way. Darkness on the Edge of Town is such a great album. My favorite Bruce Springsteen album is probably Nebraska, but Darkness is right up there.
Thanks, I'll check it out. Always like a good recommendation!

I love Nebraska, too. Then again, I love almost everything Bruce has ever done.

Huge Springsteen fan here too! Although, I wasn't floored by his latest album

So, I've only got three from this sale - Monsieur Verdoux, Life & Death of Colonel Blimp and Secret of the Grain.

I've only seen Verdoux... can't believe I've not seen Colonel Blimp yet.

Any thoughts on Secret of the Grain? I got interested in it since Abdellatif Kechiche's new film won the Palme D'Or.

Great film! I consider it one of the better 'modern family drama' films in the collection.

I enjoyed Secret of the Grain but not much replay value (for me anyway). I suggest you rent it first. Looking forward to his new film.

Finally got around to seeing Videodrome. Fascinating film. Amazing how some of the subject matter of the film reflects on society now...

just finished watching rashomon and most of its bonus features.
the movie was sitting a while now on my bluray shelf. but first i wanted to read mr kurosawas "something like an autobiographie" (awesome book by the way)

the movie rashomon was absolutly fantastic. liked it alot. actually i think i will watch it again in a few days with the audio commentary.

with each criterion movie i watch (or masters of cinema/bfi) i want to buy more and more of these "old" movies.

Freaked me out the first time I saw it in high school. Just rewatched it recently and definitely more relevant today.

If you like Shakespeare and Olivier, blind buy Richard III with confidence. In fact, if you like those two, I'd say it's essential. +++

Really dated but definitely has historical significance. Not one I would blind buy. You can watch the trailer on you tube.

Question

This has probably been asked 1000 times already but do most of you guys who keep your collections in alphabetical order sort your Criterion Blu-rays the same way or do you keep the Criterions together. I just checked and I think I have about 16 of them now so I am thinking about sorting them "Criterion: 12 Angry Men" then "Criterion: The 400 Blows" ....and so on.

I have also been struggling with this issue. I have tried alphabetical, alphabetical with the rest of my collection, and by spine number. I can't seem to pick one I like yet.

I sort by spine number, it's become the easiest way for me..

..and I'm one of those weird people that will remove individual disc folders from a boxed set to display them separately because they have their own spine numbers

I'll second both of these as the first two titles to get from your list! And with THE GOLD RUSH you get both the reconstructed original 1925 silent cut and the 1942 sound re-edit with Chaplin's own narration replacing the title cards.

That is one movie I can confidently say that I will watch at least once a year for the rest of my life!
