The Red Shoes and The Night of the Hunter were two of my first Criterions and I absolutely love them. Both are true classics. The 400 Blows is amazing as well and has a beautiful transfer. I haven't seen Badlands and I just bought it like you so I'm waiting for that one too. Haven't seen House but I would say that you have bought an amazing selection of films.

Going to do it gradually before she watches some Malick and Bergman.. *gulp*
I really hope The 'Before' films come to BluRay. I recently saw the Before Sunrise for the first time and I was floored.

My one quibble is the fact that it is now a trilogy robs it of some inherent tension. I plan on seeing Before Sunset on wednedsay and Before Midnight on Friday. I can't wait

And as for Just-Funny, it is. But wait, since when did they have The Circus even as a regular title?
Criterion's Hulu page has tons of films the company hasn't given a physical release to. For example, I just watched Bergman's All These Women, which looked absolutely spectacular.

So when it comes time to buy a new bluray, I've gained a little trust in Criterion and tend to go for blind buys of movies that look interesting to me, rather than go for the movies I've seen numerous times before ... even though they might be classics. .
So....now you're actually guilty about NOT blind-buying a Criterion, and whether it's "okay" to buy a movie you already know?

Started watching this set this weekend, was not too thrilled with Rupture, it was a mildly amusing short. Really enjoyed the other short I watched, Happy Anniversary. But, man did I fall in love with The Suitor, what a great film that is very clever on many levels. The humor still works. I hope the other features are just as good!

I just blind bought Kagemusha myself (Having just watched and loved Seven Samurai).

I really like Fear and Loathing, however. And yet, I could see that it's not for everyone. It's a fantastic adaptation of the book - If you've read the book, you'll have a pretty good idea of what you're in for.

I just finished viewing Harold Lloyd's Safety Last!. I hope people are pre-ordering this release. The restoration is fantastic and the film excellent.

The shorts are also superb, on par with Chaplin's best!

Hopefully, Criterion will bring more of Lloyd's recently restored films to Blu-ray.

Our review will be up later tonight.

I haven't read the book, but I am a fan of Gilliam's work, especially Brazil which is one of my all time favorites.

Thanks, I think I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger on Kagemusha, possibly the StudioCanal Ran blu-ray as well.

Excited to see the review. For the longest time, Marketa Lazarova was my most anticipated title of the month, but this one shot up fairly recently.

You are in for a very special treat, iScottie. As I mentioned above, the restoration is very impressive.

I have only seen Harold Lloyd's The Kid Brother, how does Safety Last! compare?

lol ... I wouldn't go that far. But I don't feel guilty about not buying a great movie I'm familiar with.

So, I decided on my Amazon haul:

America: Lost and Found
Badlands
Kiss Me Deadly
Naked Lunch
On the Waterfront
Playtime

Might still pick up Pierre Etaix, Medium Cool, Antichrist, If..., and Two-Lane Blacktop.

I have a Barnes and Noble giftcard, but I'm saving it for the Qatsi Trilogy or Shoah in July.

I'm having a hard time buying a movie that I know and love when there are so many undiscovered gems in the collection.

I finally pulled the trigger on Sweet Smell of Success in this sale, which is a film I have seen several times and love. Haven't done the same for some others though...

12 Angry Men might be a little more accessible, can't go wrong with either film though IMO.

Thanks, I guess I'll go with Seven Samurai when I have the chance. There might be other opportunities to get 12 Angry Men such as July B&N sale.

Great, thanks everyone for the replies. Now comes the waiting game, can't wait to watch these titles.

Have anyone watched Beauty and the Beast? So far, I seen it on the trailer. It looks interesting.
