I would really love a blu of that one too but it seems like they aren't as interested in it as all of us
Unless they're waiting for David Gordon Greens remake to come out to announce it...
DAMN! oh well then perhaps Starz might release the film on BD at last but Criterion is just a pipe-dream for now.

How about Peter Jackson's Dead Alive (aka Braindead) (Needs a special edition badly and to be better than Lionsgate's horrible BD), Meet The Feebles, Bad Taste and Heavenly Creatures? they could use Criterion's magic and make them with extras abound including remastering supervised by PJ himself, perhaps Criterion can contact Wingnut studio for each of those films to be in special editions especially Dead Alive with both theatrical and international cuts.

I am excited to see it, but don't think I have a free 2:45 to watch it today.
Looks like they are really pushing the new releases. They had Safety Last! as the pick two days ago. I'm curious to see whether they do the same with Shoah, despite its runtime.

Is it true Criterion has Eraserhead? sounds neat to me.

Now if Criterion can do a special edition of The Elephant Man, i would be most happy.

That would be pretty crazy. Imagine trying to watch all of Shoah in the two days that the movies are free. Sounds mentally and emotionally exhausting.

I do hope that they keep up this trend. I would love to watch some of the other upcoming releases before they are available.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Shoah will be a 5.0 blu.

Even so, I still can't wait to read the review. It'll be interesting (and devastating) to read individual reactions to the film.

Yes and Elephant Man is being released as some Mel Brooks collection this year or next.

Went a little overboard today. Picked up Les Cousins, Revanche, Au Revoir Les Enfants, and White Material from the local seller I had mentioned before. I also went to a used disc store and unloaded about 20 titles from my collection I wouldn't ever watch again and came away with Amarcord, Lola Montes, Lonesome, and a non Criterion title, 2001.

I know the topic of how many Criterion Blus people have comes up now and then, but I'm curious how many people have actually watched.

Currently there are 223 Criterion Blu-ray releases (Counting anything that can be bought from Criterion separately as one release. So Sanjuro and Yojimbo each count as one even though you can buy them together, and America Lost And Found is also one)

So given that method of counting, how many have you seen?

I suppose i should start: 130 of 223.

Has anyone seen all 223?

If I did it right, I've seen 92 of the films released on blu-ray, assuming something like La jetée counts as its own film. That leaves on 20 films I've seen from the collection that haven't been given the blu-ray treatment (at least not the Criterion blu-ray treatment.)

I should clarify, not all 92 were seen on blu, just that I've seen 92 that have been given a blu release.

well. i watched Life is Sweet today. another recent disappointing and undeserving title that Criterion put out . Not awful but a B- or C+ film IMO.

I really hope that Dancer In The Dark isn't announced because I just imported the Japan version. I would like The Virgin Suicides to come out, though. I'm not sure how great Criterion's relationship is with Paramount, especially since they're in this current merger or what have you with Warner Bros.

Going back to the whole "I've seen xx / xx films", I've seen a total of 97.5 (going by UPCs) out of the 235 (UPCs) films released / to be released.

All of these films already have more than acceptable DVD editions so please no.
Lets get some films that have never had a special edition treatment before please.
There are a ridiculous amount of Spike Lee films that deserve the treatment, midnight run, a proper special edition of Kwaidan, Until The End of the World, etc.

The Virgin Suicides would be amazing as would Dancer in the Dark.

I really doubt it's possibility but I'm hoping Half Nelson gets a criterion transfer.
