And in a thread on The Life Aquatic.

I don't know the point, some people just don't have a lot going on, I guess?

Honestly, I don't think a single film I've ever seen improved MORE than The New World upon second viewing. Don't wait, hurry to get a second viewing in!!

Agreed 1000% I was slightly disappointed by it the first time I saw it, but when I rewatched it in March, I was in complete adoration. How had i changed since the first viewing? Not much. I did however, become a huge fan of Miami Vice...So my tolerance for Collin Farrell went up significantly.

A few months ago, people would often post hilarious spoof CC announcements early in the day to pass the time until the real announcements arrived.

This one was reposted as gospel for some reason.

If you haven't seen it yet, definitely don't discount To The Wonder despite the lukewarm response it received during its theatrical run.

Yeah I remember the infamous "Kindergarten Cop" drawing, but this seemed so random. Also I have to be honest, Mr. Mom receiving the Criterion treatment far exceeded my expectations.

I plan on blind buying it when it comes out. The trailer looked incredible and I'm a big fan of the cast. I think I'll enjoy it.

Why not watch Tim Blake Nelson's "O" or Kenneth Branagh's "Hamlet" also?

Actually, in all sincere seriousness and honesty, you could check out these fine Akira Kurosawa films...

Throne of Blood (an adaptation of Macbeth)
The Bad Sleep Well (an adaptation of Hamlet)
Ran (an adaptation of King Lear)

A fair warning that The Bad Sleep Well might leave you with a saddened misanthropic cynicism. It's a great movie, but, after I first saw it, I wanted to dig a deep hole and live down there away from people for the rest of my life.

I really love Ran and Hamlet is pretty darn good too.

Throne of Blood is one of my biggest cinematic blind spots.

I forgot about this one after I never saw an update in imdb it looks really good too bad Criterion didn't get rights to release it, the cover for the blu ray is pretty bad but I will buy it regardless lol.

I just watched Safety Last! and I must admit, while it was quite humorous at times, I was a bit let down at the hype that everybody created surrounding it.

I didn't expect over half of the film to consist of Harold Lloyd trying to impress his girlfriend with a job position he never had. When the exciting part did come around, it was rather short lived and predictable, in my opinion.

From the silent films that I've seen thus far in the collection, I would rank them in the following order:

Lonesome
Gold Rush
Modern Times
Safety Last!
People On Sunday

Don't let me opinion on the film deter you folks from checking it out, though. The PQ and AQ are rather impressive, and while it did fall short for me, it was still entertaining. It's great to see how not only films, but also the world, used to be back in the 1920s.

Eh I don't know. I found People On Sunday to be quite the drag for most of the film.

It is true there is no conflict, but I thought it was always a pretty moving romanticized vision of weekend lounging.

You should see The Phantom Carriage. That one will freak you out.

Yeah, I think it's the only silent film I have left to see beside The Buster Keaton Collection.
