Does anyone know how much longer the sale is going to last? I get paid next Friday, and I would like to order 12 Angry Men and Seven Samurai.

The film runs rather long and IMO coasts mainly on the charisma of the lead pair (which admittedly is considerable, although I would have liked to see a little more dimension from Belmondo's character). Also, while I'm sure this was not an agenda, the successful conversion of the woman and her daughter to a Christian way of life is a little unsettling to my atheistic thinking (it could be just me, and I'm not a deep thinking fellow).
That makes me feel better, one less OOP Criterion to worry about. But hey, is there a list somewhere of Criterion titles that are OOP, and ABOUT to go OOP?
Now I'm looking for Chungking Express. The only "cheap" copies I can find don't ship overseas. I really don't wanna spend much more than $40 for this, as it is a blind buy based on the screencaps. Or is there a place on this site where you can buy blurays from other members?

Even if it ends before you get paid again you have the Barnes & Noble 50% Criterion sale which starts on the 9th of July.

Amazon has been sitting on my order for over a week for no apparent reason. The films are all in stock. I'm tempted to cancel and wait for the Barnes and Noble sale.

Edit: I've cancelled everything that hasn't been dispatched. The outstanding expedited items had an estimated delivery date of mid-July, so it'd be quicker to wait for the Barnes & Noble sale. And an order I placed with standard delivery had an estimated delivery date of mid August!

My order from B&N which arrived yesterday took 10 working days. That was with the cheapest shipping option.

Just finished watching the Bergman films in the new set. Happy to say I won't be spending money on them. They are fine as far as classic films go, just nothing amazing. The final scenes were always the best imo, and Stromboli was my favorite.

I received this $25 gift certificate from Criterion Collection for having both the White disc and Carlos disc 2 replaced. Since I live in Sweden and can not use this because they are only shipping within United States and Canada I will give away this gift certificate to one of you. I received it last year so I don“t know if it is still valid.

Here it is: BHKXYN

With the "50% Off" discount from Amazon.com remains active, I seized the opportunity to purchase Traffic today. The variables of this film involved political thriller, drama, and suspense, which I generally liked. And, Traffic contains heavy supplements and extras, although from I understand most of the DVD version carry over to Blu ray (in other words, not all of them).

Glad that you enjoyed my all-time favorite movie!

I bought Le Samouraļ on Criterion DVD the week that it was released, because some favorable reviews tipped me off to it. I cannot readily put my finger on the reason, but that movie knocked me on my tail, and it continues to get better with each viewing.

Ahh I see. Nope, totally missed that.

I much prefer Barnes and Noble to Amazon. Criterion's the only reason I still bother with Amazon, although the money you save on the RRP is usually eviscerated by Amazon's larcenous shipping charges anyway.

Nowadays I'm quite laid back about delivery times and damage to books and blu-ray packaging but it drives me mad when Amazon sits on an order - especially if you've paid a horrifying amount of money for timely shipping. Curse you corporate apathy!

College Student living on a budget. I have money in my account, but I'd rather not do the "Living paycheck to paycheck" scenario.

That's good to know. I'll wait til next Friday then and if they're no longer on sale, just wait an extra week.

The Life of Oharu Blu-ray

I would also like to encourage you to pick up the box set below, which has four excellent films from the Japanese master. Two of them, Utamaro and His Five Women and Osaka Elegy, have connections to The Life of Oharu. If you could play Region-B discs, it is definitely worth owning. At least I think it is, as Mizoguchi is my favorite director from the Big Three (the other two being Ozu and Kurosawa).

Have a great weekend everyone

Thanks for the review pro-B! I can't wait to add Oharu to my collection in the July B&N sale. I already bought Sansho the Bailiff from Amazon and I'm waiting for its arrival.
