Did you guys miss that Janus is showing a print of the restoration of l'avventura? It's mentioned in the newsletter.

"Restoration negative courtesy of Cinématographique Lyre, Mediaset, and CINETECA NAZIONALE – Fondazione Scuola Nazionale di Cinematografia"

I'm still thinking Criterion will release the trilogy very soon.

I read that on Armond White's site. (Yeah, I read him from time to time)

(One of my top ten or so favorite films of all time too)

What if this is a hint to an Eclipse set? They normally have about 4 or 5 movies.

Have they ever hinted at an Eclipse?

Yes, for Pearls of the Czech New Wave. I'm sure they did for others, but I can't remember.

It'd be great if it was a hint for a Glauber Rocha boxset: Black God, White Devil, Entranced Earth, Antonio das Mortes, Age of the Earth.

Or maybe Luchino Visconti's Terra Trema?

I also thought it was IaMMMMW at first, but I agree - it's one planet getting getting progressively madder. (In fact, the first one isn't even mad).

I am pretty sure that's the conclusion they were hoping people would jump to.

I would love to see it be La Planete Sauvage, especially since it would be their first animated film, though I'm not convinced it's that either...

I think they released Akira back in the LD days, but that was a long time ago

For their first animated release, I'd love to see them release a blu of Don Hertzfeldt's work, a la Hollis Frampton, or Consuming Spirits.

It couldn't be something like An Inconvenient Truth, could it?

Does anything else along those lines come to mind?

It's an IFC film that hasn't been released on BluRay yet too.

Welp, guess I'll be getting Howards End during the B&N criterion sale. It was on my wish list anyway, but it going out of print forces me to get it earlier.

I can't wait for it to be July 15th. I'm hoping for more Cronenberg for October release.

Argh. I hope not.

The Angry Red Planet (1959), perhaps? Mars is the fourth planet from the sun.
No... The planet in the cartoon is Earth. Nevermind.

We do need The Angry Red Planet on Blu-ray, though.

The New Year cartoon promised us that we were getting Scanners, and October is a perfect month for that.

In a perfect world, we would see a box set with Shivers (They Came From Within), The Brood, and Scanners.
