I love Lena Dunham (although I love Girls so much more than TF) and I loled at that speaking English comment. It was, obviously, in jest. Pretty good top ten as well.

I enjoy watching actors and directors going into the criterion closet and picking some of their fave movies. It's nice to hear their thoughts about the movies. I wish they would make more of those videos.

Hey guys, What's your opinion on Kes? Just saw the three reasons video and it seems pretty interesting and sad.

Nah, if people like her then fine, I just have never seen or heard a single thing she's done that I've found witty or entertaining, I'm sorry but I just don't understand how her work appeals to anyone.

So, you are a troll?

Is that a bannable offense here on this forum?

Excellent film, although a very depressing ending to it. You will most likely need the subtitles on as the Yorkshire accents are heavy. But I like English!

Too bad. Have fun NOT enjoying any of the films in HD... which, you realize, is the cake. The extras are just icing.

It's very interesting and very sad. But not sad in a sappy, maudlin way. Sad in a 'slice of bleak life' sort of life.

It's excellent and yeah, you should plan on hitting the subtitle button on your remote.

If they are gonna be cheap-asses who do half-assed work like the other studios they sure as hell ain't getting that Criterion premium price from me anymore.
So you're pissed when they rehash stuff that's already available on DVD unless we're talking about suppements in which case you're outraged when they don't rehash stuff that's already available on DVD.

Cool.

Lena Dunham the person reminds me of the character Frances in Frances Ha. Although I really liked Greta Gerwig more than Lena Dunham. I must say that the one time I watched Tiny Furniture, I was both irritated and fascinated, a combination that does not come often in my life. For that alone, Lena Dunham, as annoying as she may be, is still effective at what she does.

Just completely unacceptable behavior and a shameful move on Criterions part.
Used to be wowed by Criterion releases. Now its more disappointment than anything I gotta say.
You know, sir, you don't have to pay exorbitant prices for Criterions as long as you wait until the 50% sales in July and November! Plus if you're savvy with coupons, you can get a Criterion BD for around $15 (or even $9.99 + tax assuming the $8 coupon works for you). Now THAT is not exorbitant.

Criterion is still probably the best movie distributor in the business, so if you can name a better studio, go ahead.

I'm strange that way, I guess.
You know, I may be the only person left on Earth who has never seen Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight. Yet, I'm a huge fan of Richard Linklater. Do you think I should just go ahead and watch Before Midnight first (in theater) and then watch Before Sunset next and then Before Sunrise last? Seriously, maybe it would be a good idea!

If Glengarry Glen Ross came out on Criterion BD, I would probably faint. ABC! Always Be Closing!

Criterion is the best though! Seriously, is Masters of Cinema or Kino any better? I'd read and research before you say Criterion is a screw up.

I think all supplements should be included. They are called criterion for goodness sakes and should set an example for the other studios. They shouldn't cheapen out like other studios and skimp on supplements. Defending them for this is beyond me. I just wanted a single definitive version of the film the tin drum and I ended up pretty disappointed . Still look forward to the new cut of the film since I am a fan of it but it is another strike against them In my mind.

Masters of cinema , Kino, and twilight time are all studios I don't buy from at all. Just not a fan. I have well over a hundred criterion titles on DVD or blu and really love the best from that studio but I have been disappointed with a lot of their recent t output. Just think they can d o a . Lot better. On a positive note I just got medium cool and that release looks like one of the best releases of the year

Maybe they'll put out a Fast and Furious set and win you back.

Theres also a really good chance they may have just lost the rights to some of them too which happens to companies a lot.
Just because something is printed on DVD doesn't mean they have the rights to blu ray.

Just finished my copy of Smiles of a Summer Night. I was really intrigued by it after enjoying All These Women and seeing so many people deem this as a much better comedy from Bergman. While I didn't find the humor as effective here, the film as a whole was much better. My favorite Bergman films are some of his "later" works (Fanny & Alexander, Persona, The Silence), so I unsurprisingly didn't enjoy this as much as a good chunk of his works that I've seen, but I still hold Bergman as one of the greatest film makers who ever was, even with only having seen 10 of his films.
