I can't wait for iScottie to see L'Avventura, because there's a good chance that the avatar will be updated to an image of Monica Vitti.

I revisited the first hour or so of the film a month or so ago when it was showing for free on Criterion Hulu. The movie always makes me smile, despite the uncanny subject matter.

Speaking of theatres and art house cinema, guess what I'm going to see on the big screen Monday night?

[Show spoiler]

My favorite James Bond movie, and one of my all-time top five movies in general.

A local indie theater is showing all 23 of the James Bond films during July. Sadly, I do not have the finances, the time, or the motivation to go to a theatre a half hour a way from home 23 nights in a row, but I did make a point to buy a ticket to this one, since it's my favorite, and since I've never seen one of the original Sean Connery Bond films on the big screen before.

I want to see if it is indeed a film presentation, as opposed to a digital Blu-ray quality showing. If it is a film showing, then I might catch From Russia with Love the following night. I'm also considering hitting my favorite Roger Moore Bond film, For Your Eyes Only, on July 12, since that's a Friday night.

L'Avventura is the place to start.

Identification is one of his lesser films, but it's still damn excellent.

. Scott isn't much of a fan of plotless movies, that's why I am issuing the fair warning. Hope he likes it though.

I noticed that. The "after-market" market price at Amazon.com and Ebay for Play Time (Playtime) started at $63.00 and $69.95 respectively. And the high end are in the range from both online merchants (Amazon.com and Ebay) between $100 and $161.97 (by the time I finished writing, the price may change).

The Third Man is crazy expensive almost 200 dollars for some copies.

Don't do it! Have patience, one day you'll come by a listing that has a decent price. I'm sure of it!

As long as it makes up in different areas, I don't mind.

The storyline seems rather intriguing.

I posted this in another thread, but this Mann quote really sticks out:
Mann makes movies for adults, pure and simple. His films are thought-provoking, mature and emotionally arresting. After having not seen Last of the Mohicans for about 20 years, I went out and bought the BD of this during the 40% sale and think this is a great movie. When I first saw this movie in 1993, I was just a teenager and knew absolutely nothing about Michael Mann. Now after so many repeated viewings of Heat and Collateral, Mohicans is just a remarkable film. My only criticism is that the score is too repetitious throughout the film, but oh what a score!

I am obsessed with owning The Third Man BD and go on ebay and amazon daily to check the prices. I've been doing this for months now. I nearly won an auction on ebay for this where the seller had included the sealed original digipak as well as the replacement case. I wish I had bid a bit higher cause I would have had this for around $145 (much better than $200). Until I own this, I'm going to be constantly obsessed.

I'm still clinging to the fantasy that I'll walk into a used movie store one day and see The Third Man Criterion Blu-ray sitting on the shelf for $20. I love the thrill of the hunt, yessiree.

I own the most recent Criterion DVD of The Third Man, but I'm probably going to unload it soon, because I can get some decent hay even for that DVD edition, and I can put that toward the upcoming July Barnes & Noble sale. The StudioCanal Blu-ray of the film will function brilliantly until a better transfer of The Third Man is released for a fair price (and this will happen someday, mark my words).
On second thought, maybe I'll just keep the DVD until something better comes along.

I got lucky a few weeks ago got a copy for under 100 in great condition via ebay, it was the cheapest price I had seen it go for.

I wish there was actual used movie stores in my city! I know in some big cities there are Goodwill stores that have all sorts of used blu-ray movies, but the chances of finding a used The Third Man blu-ray sitting on a shelf there is next to impossible. I am also loving the thrill of the hunt myself, so in a way, its fun checking prices daily to see if I can find a good deal for a used or new copy of The Third Man. I actually considered buying a used BD copy but the thing is, I'd like the keepcase BD artwork and since Criterion no longer sells this on their site, I'd have no way of downloading or finding this anywhere!

Unless somebody knows where I can buy or find The Third Man replacement keepcase sheet artwork?

If so, please speak up!

This is how I am. I worry about not getting a sealed version because something could be not 100% authentic.

The score for Last of the Mohicans is undeniably good. The soundtrack choices, for better or for worse, in the rest of his films are ultimately more esoteric, uncool even. Fortunately, I have a penchant for synths, "guitar orchestra" and base thrumming.

How excited are you for this?
