Thanks for the tip. I'm leaning towards the original, only because the addition 10 or so minutes.
Do it! 40 dollars for le cercle rogue is a great price in the current eBay environment. It's not a huge scalper price either.

I love what Sidney Lumet says in 'Making Movies' about Red Desert, that color and imagery can tell stories alone. He was such a fan of the film that he hired cinematographer Carlo Di Palma to work with him.

Also, Blow Up is a fascinating film too. It was technically the first Antonioni film I saw, and I was left speechless and confused, but I knew I had just seen one of the greatest works of filmic art to be found. We need that film on Region A BluRay ASAP.

If you are a fan of counterculture/ trip-movies, see Zabriskie Point. It's super heavy handed, even quite eye rolling at times, but it's a superb spectacle with a masterful score by Jerry Garcia and Pink Floyd (the BFI bluray of 'More' sits on my shelf unwatched as we speak).
If I should see the Antonionis in that order, I guess I have to wait. It looks like La Notte is the only one on blu? I saw the news about a restored Avventura, so guess within a year.
Yep, More has been sitting in my wishlist for a while...I really like early Pink Floyd but wasn't sure if I'd like the film enough. Money is always the main issue.

Ohhhh yeah. I'm waiting for the domestic release of Possession later this year, though.

I'll be pre-ordering The Driver from TT this week as well.

I'll definitely share my take with you when I see it in the coming weeks.

I think La Notte is one of the more accessible Antonioni films. It's very atmospheric, it's drenched in sex appeal and its not too "heady" (for the lack of a better word). Definitely give it a shot! (La Notte would be one of the first Region B blurays I would buy if I could)

My personal favorite French films on Criterion BluRay are:
•Last Year at Marienbad
•Playtime
•Au Revoir Les Enfants
•The Double Life of Veronique.
•Lola Montes
•La Jetee
•Children of Paradise
•Three Colors

Note: I didn't list 400 Blows because I feel that Truffaut made better films in the years to follow.

The 400 Blows
The Rules of the Game
Three Colors Trilogy (French/Polish)
Beauty and the Beast (1946)
La Grande Illusion (StudioCanal collection, but probably my favorite classic French film)

thanks to you both. did check out some trailers on youtube.

these look interessting to me:

La Grande Illusion <- i dont mind if its studiocanal / criterion / AE / MoC
Au Revoir Les Enfants <-- found it on youtube. will watch a few minutes and get a copy.
The Double Life of Veronique. <- will get that one for sure. the UK release is pretty cheap.
Belle de Jour <-- that one has already my attention
Breathless <-- that one looks promising too, but only digibook release so far

Masinthe, I think Band of Outsiders is a more accessible and Fun Godard film, but you can't go wrong with Breathless.

I will not even suggest my favorite Godard, because I seem to be the only one that thinks so highly of that particular film.

Outside of Criterion/MoC, you should check out Amélie, and Delicatessen too if you haven't seen them yet. Those are great modern French movies. They're both a bit outside of the box, but I loved them.

Amélie was definitely good, but I don't know why it's so highly rated. It just felt a little above average, to me.
