Plus, all the early years of watching John Waters early films like "Multiple Maniacs," "Mondo Trasho," "Desperate Living," and "Pink Flamingos" helped me develop into the fine, upstanding citizen that I am today.

Wow, that sounds almost reactionary...

Did your mother tie your hands to the bed at night or something?!?!

I very much hope so! I would buy that day one.

I hope Criterion puts out Antichrist, considering that they had stated emphatically in the past that it would NOT be part of their IFC deal. But its frustrating that all the copies are 25fps (with the possible exception of the Danish or German version, I forget which, but don't know if it was ever confirmed at 24p.)

Just got a copy of The Third Man from Amazon Marketplace, it was a digipak and the case was smashed, ugh. I can live with that though cause I already ordered a replacement case, but the blue, Blu Ray sticker on the front didn't have the director's signature on it, isn't it supposed to or am I losing my mind? What could that mean if it doesn't? Everything else appears legit.

Also about the supposed Antichrist release, I just watched it on On Demand not too long ago, and while I can't say I'm a fan of the film, it is great looking. The first 10 or so minutes, shot in black and white, are particularly beautiful. Definitely worth watching, although personally I don't think I'd buy it just cause I don't think I'll have the desire to see it again.

I thought Sweet Movie was a great film. Just because there is some nudity in it does not mean that it should not been seen by people. Its not excessive or degrading like it is in Salo (another fine film I might add).

Its funny, in unknown films people complain about nudity, yet those same people clamour for more nudity in a movie like Eyes Wide Shut.

I just watched the South Park movie last night and its right in its views, of Americans at least. Violence is fine, but foul language is not. But this has been shifted slightly from when the movie was made, to violence and swear words are alright, but nudity is not.

I find it funny that people refuse to watch a movie because it has nudity or sex in it. Its like the same people here that refuse to watch a criterion because it is not blu.

Or the person that will not watch a movie that is silent, or b&w. Why intentionally limit yourself to potentially great films that you are missing out on?

Rant over, I also watched Empire of Passion last night. Will have to add that to my collection during the next sale.

Not all BD stickers have the director's signature - only ones that the director has actually approved of. I don't have the Third Man's sticker in front of me so I don't know for sure if it's not supposed to have it, but considering the age of the film I somehow don't think Carol Reed signed off on this particular disc....

Well, "The Third Man" doesn't have the director's signature because I don't believe Carol Reed was alive to approve the transfer or release. That's just my guess.

I find it unfortunate that Criteron chose not to release "Empire Of Passion" on blu-ray alongside "In The Realm Of The Senses." I find it to be a much better film overall than the latter.

I consider this to be a marketing decision, since it was in their early days of blu. They have two films, which one to release on blu......the extremely graphic, controversial film...or the other one haha. I agree it is a shame, as I kept thinking how good it would have been on blu. But I dont really mind a CC transfer upconverted on the ps3 it still looks damn good.

I think a bigger sin is Howards End winning the poll to get the blu treatment over Kwaidan

Anyone care to issue some July 2010 predictions?

The formula seems to be.

1-2 IFC films
1 Catalog film
1-2 New spines (non IFC)

I'll issue my predictions in a week.

I am getting a little bit tired of all teh IFC films I own most of them but at the same time, I feel like they are getting better releases than films that also deserved BLU treatment like THE FUGITIVE KIND, or MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW, NIGHT TRAIN TO MUNICH and DILLINGER IS DEAD.

this IFC deal is a blessing and a curse all at the same time.

Antichrist
Red Shoes
Rashomon
The Four Feathers
Thin Red Line

Only one IFC in my predictions, and these are all titles heavily rumored to be released soon, although Criterion usually has a surprise title every month.

So people can stop getting their hopes up, when they hint a movie, it doesn't mean it is coming right then, so The Thin Red Line and Antichrist is looking like fall releases to me. Red Shoes and The Four Feathers are good guesses. It took I think 8 months for Che to be released after hinted, so be patient for The Thin Red Line.

I liked the movie overall but the dialogue and story could have been much better. The little girl's accent was extremely obnoxious to me. I wish I could just remove her narration from the film.

And we still haven't heard a release date for del Toro's "Cronos" and that was hinted at back in October 2009's newsletter. I'd very much like to see that one come soon.

I keep forgetting about this one. But didn't they need to do work on it, right? That is why it's taking long. All I know is come announcement day, people are going to ask where the Thin Red Line is, so I was just informing to those people, don't get your hopes up.

The Four Feathers? Ugg, that one was a big disappointment for me. Heath Ledger was a good actor but that film was lacking in many ways.
