It's just a matter of time before we see Blu-rays of the other two films in the Michelangelo Antonioni trilogy, I'm sure.

And I love its cover.

Its good to see that the DVD boxset upgrade cherry has been broken with Cassavetes; we know BRD is coming, but here's looking at your way too, Antoine Doinel. I might still look to cherry-pick the ones I might be interested in from the BFI releases, though they aren't priorities as of yet.

Eyes Without a Face and I Married a Witch are of interest as well.
According to one of the users, the Doinel films were shown in HD on TCM two Fridays ago. I'd say it's safe to assume we'll see that within a year.

IMO, the best month is definitely August. Five must-buys.

Is Veronica Lake the girl played by Kim Basinger on L.A. Confidential?

I think we'll see an upgrade (relatively) soon, as Criterion seems to quietly be releasing its stock--but it's real conjecture on my part. They no longer sell it on their website, and it didn't participate in recent half-off sales at Best Buy and Amazon.

They've already upgraded one title though, so it'd be interesting to see how that would co-exist...though this also occurred during the DVD days so it's not an unprecedented motion.

August is hands down my least favorite month.

March, September, and October are the bests!

I feel bad for the Cronenberg fans who were so sure that October was the release month. Maybe it was too obvious and they wanted to surprise people. They didn't want to be too predictable. I bet they will release them next October lol
Another skip month for me ... oh well...

March probably edges out this month for me. November has a lot to live up to, and judging from these rumors, it just might.

A very good month for October. Though I would have preferred Antonioni's The Passenger over La Notte.

The Cassavetes five film box set upgrade is probably the highlight for me.

Dang! Was hoping for Polanski's restored Tess, which Criterion has the rights to.

I keep considering buying the UK disc, but have been holding off waiting for Criterion. I just know if I buy it they'll announce it the next month.

I must say, this month's set is one of the best this year. MUCH better than August's and quite a bit better than September's. More like March and June quality.

It's almost certainly coming from Criterion, and though it might surely have more extras than the BFI edition, I picked that one up on sale from Zavvi earlier this year with a coupon for a cool ~$15 shipped (to America). I can live with that.

Super excited about the Cassavetes set, perfect timing too(B&N November sale). La Notte looks interesting. I don't like the cover art though.

I was thinking that the Antonioni informal trilogy was going to be the big collection this Fall. Looks like they will be separate releases. I think the Cronenberg films will be the big collection to close out the year.

From the New Year's Drawing and strong rumors these could be the titles for November and December?

Cronenberg Collection: The Brood, Scanners, Rabid, Shivers

It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

The Kid (the next Chaplin)

Tess

Picnic at Hanging Rock

Eraserhead

Mulholland Drive

Le Samourai (upgrade)

Barnes & Noble My Barnes & Noble haul for July 15, 2013

Just got back from another mini shopping spree. This was my 3rd haul. I managed to save again with coupons even though the CSR had to call the manager and was reluctant to use the $8 coupon on Heaven's Gate. But she gave it a shot and it worked!

Heaven's Gate BD ($8 coupon + 10% discount) $14.49
Monsieur Verdoux BD ($5/50 coupon + 10% discount) $16.17
Revanche BD ($5/50 coupon + 10% discount) $16.17
Identification of a Woman BD ($5/50 coupon + 10% discount) $12.13

My second transaction grouped the other 3 films as you can see.

Here's a photo I took:

I now have purchased a total of 12 Criterion blu-ray releases (and 0 Criterion dvd releases) during this sale.
