I forgot to tell that this is one of my favorite Verhoeven movie with Turkish Delight (if only it could be released on blu-ray ! anywhere !!!!)

back to the e-thriller question : well, Body Heat is an excellent movie. Superb photography.
The Black Widow too (the one with D.Winger and Theresa Russell) - but it hasn't been released on blu-ray yet.

and what about the Hot Spot ? (coming soon on blu-ray)

I've always considered Sea Of Love to be a pre-Basic Instinct story...
Ellen Barkin is sooo sexy...
don't trust the opening title which makes you think you're watching a telefilm...
Unfortunately, from what I can remember, the blu-ray is not technically good...

I would guess a box set of stuff new to the collection in November. And probably a good number of the ones you mentioned to finish out the year. Wenders' Road Trilogy would make a good box set, but I'm sure there are other box sets that would be just as nice (Dekalog).

I think that the BFI Blu-Ray transfer is stellar; amazing photography by Nestor Almendros, like all the other B.Shroeder on BFI (La Vallée- and I was particularly amazed by the picture quality of "More" (N.Almendros how to film a coton panties... and Mimsi Farmer is )
I already have all these titles on DVD.
Maîtresse from Criterion DVD too.
Of course I would like a Criterion blu-ray upgrade (altough I'd doubt that the PQ would be far better than the BFI transfer - the master HD will probably the same)
from what I can remember there were not so much bonus on the Criterion DVD. But I have kept it for the Barbet Shroeder who gave many details about the movie, how he met some real "maîtresses"; how some sequences were shots, etc...
but I wouldn't consider this has an erotic or erotic/thriller movie.
it's the perfect balance IMHO in B.Shroeder style. He achieved perfectly here to make a movie between documentary and a story (the love story between Bulle Ogier and G.Dieu de dieu characters) (which was not a total success in More - although when I watched More I thought that it was far better than what I remember from this movie)

there's a perfect distant used to film the SM sequence.
is not a movie to "tease you"...

what I find awesome in "Maîtresse" is the relationship between B.Ogier et Gerard Dieu de Dieu characters : in the last sequence it's almost the Cronenberg "Crash" movie that we have here resumed in just one sequence (the car scene)
Really an excellent and amazing movie.

by the way, when will "Crash" by Cronenberg be released ????? (I mean, somewhere in the world ?)

Coop,

I have not heard anything about a possible U.S. release. However, the BFI releases - including La vallée and More - were done with Mr. Schroeder's direct involvement. I personally am very happy with them.

I would also recommend obtaining a copy of this film (Cheaters - see below) as it uses a remarkably good transfer. I am a big admirer of Bulle Ogier. Hopefully, either a U.S. or UK company will soon bring The Salamander/La salamandre to Blu-ray.

Really good film, Abdrewes. A U.S. Blu-ray release would be most welcome

But I also really like Turkish Passion. If you could find a copy at Amazon.es, or elsewhere, invest in it. Classic Spanish Cinema

I'll have to get around to buying it during a UK order sometime...I'd forgotten about those other BFI ones too. From the sound of it I need to see more of his films--they really interest me.

His early films are his best, Coop. Everything after:

...is made by a director in a completely different state of mind. These are the films you want to have in your collection (everything else, see before buying):

1. More
2. La valee
3. Maîtresse
4. Tricheurs
5. Barfly

Documentaries

1. The Charles Bukowski Tapes
2. Terror's Advocate

Well, I had $160 budgeted towards my engineering book, turns out it's only $45. I have to take this girl to go see the conjuring tomorrow and she'll probably want a 5 dollar shake too, but that still leaves me with bonus criterion money. I wish I knew November's releases before I splurge on borderline titles that I want.

November has two of my most anticipated releases: La Notte and the Cassavettes set. Consider those too

(Good luck with The Conjuring, yet another James Wan disappointment for me. Although, the crowd loved it.)

Thanks for the reccomendation. I believe that is not the first film by that director you have endorsed. Will definitely look into his work.

Rent the ones I listed above if nothing else. They are well worth your time.

November is usually a solid month, so expect the best

La Notte may prove to be one of the only Criterions I buy "full price". That two week wait for it to go on sale is going to be grueling.
