My haul for this year (so far):

All of them are from Amazon except for Beauty and the Beast, Vivre Sa Vie, and On the Waterfront, which came from B&N.

Well, my total haul may not seem like much compared to some of the obsessives here (not naming names), but for me, it was the largest ever for a single sale:

Yojimbo
Rashomon
Mystery Train
For All Mankind
Lord of the Flies
The Ice Storm
3:10 to Yuma
Days of Heaven
Howards End
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
The Man Who Knew Too Much
Paris, Texas
Things to Come
Traffic

With my numerous Viggle GC's, coupons and member discount, I spent about $8 per title.

I also only got a few. I couldn't use any coupons this sale, but still happy with the sale price of $19.99. I got a couple from eBay for around $16, and a few from the Amazon Warehouse page.

Bigger Than Life
Carlos
A Christmas Tale
David Lean Directs Noel Coward Boxset
The Devil's Backbone
Diabolique
Everlasting Moments
Fish Tank
The Ice Storm
Kiss Me Deadly
The Lady Vanishes
Ministry of Fear
Monsoon Wedding
Revanche
Ride with the Devil
Scenes from a Marriage
Sweet Smell of Success
Weekend (2011)

And proof that you only need to buy one, if you care enough to make it the RIGHT one.

(Well, two, anyway, provided you find some extra money in the street.
Which is pretty much how I get them, whenever I get an Amazon GC from online surveys.)

Since the big Amazon sale happened in June, I'll go ahead and count my haul for June and July combined...

[Show spoiler]June
Stagecoach
Diabolique
Charade
Marketa Lazarova
Safety Last!
Wild Strawberries
Things to Come
3:10 to Yuma

July
The Gold Rush
Modern Times
The Great Dictator
Monsieur Verdoux
Island of Lost Souls
M
Black Narcissus
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Lord of the Flies
The Double Life of Veronique
Three Colors Trilogy (box set)
Yojimbo/Sanjuro (box set)
La Jetée / Sans Soleil
Bigger Than Life
Identification of a Woman

I spaced out the purchases in such a way that I have been able to watch all of the Blu-rays already. I'm in love with all of the movies.

My next Criterion purchase will be Seconds, but it won't be a day one purchase unless there is a huge sale at the time. Otherwise, I'll wait until the next big B&N coupon or until my $10 credit comes from replacing my Three Colors: White disc.

They'd have to get a restoration from a foundation or team up with the production house, and for a lot of independents, those no longer exist (or didn't exist in the first place!)

Still, if I were to conjecture at titles worth doing, they would be

Princess and the Cobbler AKA Arabian Knight AKA The Recobbled Cut (in Miramax/Disney hell, last I checked)
The Adventures of Prince Achmed Coming to the UK in Blu via BFI
The King and the Mockingbird
Animal Farm
Perfect Blue
Watership Down (WB owns the rights to this one, though)
the films of René Laloux -- Fantastic Planet is already out in the UK on Blu via Eureka
films of Makoto Shinkai (I can dream, can't I?)
rerelease The Girl Who Leapt through Time
and various curiosos, like Princess Iron Fan

The Bakshi's, Disney's and Ghibli's are mostly already accounted for. These are the only other ones I can quickly think of that have had cultural influence, which is the ideal Criterion litmus test, I suppose. And there are probably a couple more out there I can't think of.

Homevision's Norman Mclaren box set recently went OOP. That would be a good Criterion candidate

I'd hope Seasons would be included too, since it wasn't included with The Complete Works of Yuri Norstein on DVD (now OOP). Finally, it sure would be nice if he was able to complete The Overcoat before he passes to the next realm. The clips he has released look amazing.
All interesting candidates and I will nominate (for the umpteenth time) Jiri Barta, the Quay Brothers, Jan Svankmajer (all mostly stop-motion animators) and Moscow's Pilot Studio, who did some great, surreal shorts in the early '90s that are ridiculously hard to track down. However, the only ones I can see Criterion doing (on Blu-ray, at least) are Fantastic Planet and The Adventures of Prince Achmed.

That's basically how I fund my purchasing of Criterion titles. For instance, I pre-ordered 3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman when it first came up for $55.97, and through using Amazon gift cards from Swag Bucks, I've gotten it down to $30.97 (which is a fantastic deal from the now current Amazon price of $69.99, and the MSRP of $99.95).

My haul for the most recent sale was (the last 9 still haven't shown up):

Insignificance
Summer Interlude
Tiny Furniture
Red Desert
Children of Paradise
La promesse
M
Beauty and the Beast
Rules of the Game
The Killing
4 by Agnes Varda
Lord of the Flies
Babette's Feast
The Devil's Backbone
Night of the Hunter
Seven Samurai
The Man Who Knew Too Much
Letter Never Sent

I've only had the chance to watch 4 of the ones I already have on hand so far, and another two were just upgrades of films I've seen already.

Does anyone know why Criterion released The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in a case that has the standard blue top, instead of a standard Criterion case or even soft pack?
