They got better as they went along for sure. Voices Carry is an uneven album (with, no doubt, their best song, one of the best of the '80's in fact), whereas Everything's Different Now and Welcome Home are 1. much more mature, lyrically, 2. much more layered productions.

That said, I am obsessed with their music. In the last two years, I have heard each of their albums well over a hundred times. it's a shane people only remember them for one song

Does anyone know for sure that Criterion will be announcing their November releases today?

Dare to be different Criterion!
They are doing something different now. They used to announce them on the morning of the 15th even if the 15th landed on a weekend.

CriterionCast has the Hulu images (covers?) for the World Cinema Foundation titles.

I can't imagine these being shovelled onto DVD sets after all the restoration work.

I'm surprised to not hear people yelling about more Wes Anderson films. *crawls back under rock*

I would really love to see Juliet of the Spirits upgraded to BLU as well as:

Friends of Eddie Coyle
Z
Antonio Guadi
Pickup on South Street
Mishima
The Furies

but I'm guessing they will announce Mulholland Dr and Its a M...World on today. I would love some other nov Surprises also Possibly Scanners?

I don't often think about what upgrades I'd like to see, but I'd also love it if Mishima was brought up to Blu. A few others that come to mind are The Exterminating Angel, Made in USA, and Woman in the Dunes, as well as some of the Eclipse sets.

Because November is their "big" month of the year. They go all out this month.

Agreed! While there are some specific titles I'm pining for, I know that even if none of them are announced today something cool will be. Plus, once November titles are named it helps to firm up the ol' November B&N sale and Christmas wishlists.

Good morning, everyone!

Today is payday, so I ordered Seconds from the Criterion website this morning, using the $10 gift certificate from my Three Colors: White replacement.

Here's hoping that Seconds arrives in the mail soon. I'm pumped about seeing this movie. Woo hoo!

Thumbs up

I have the Furies DVD with the book packaging, I cant see them doing a Blu Ray like that, but you never know
Here's hoping for some good stuff today
Here's an appropriate title about how we feel on the 15th of each month that Criterion could upgrade: "Great Expectations" Great film !
I wish they could do their own releases for Robocop and Silence of the Lambs..that would be very welcome
