They did release Robert Altman's HBO series Tanner '88 on DVD.

Things have been dreary lately, and we could use these two movies to cheer all of us up a little bit before Christmas.
Have you picked up Umberto D? I find that one more rewarding than Bicycle Thieves.

They also released Repulsion early on, and they could announce Tess. Tess has been released in the UK and it will be released in Japan soon. It looks great on Blu-ray. Polanski's Bitter Moon has also been released in Japan, although I haven't had a chance to see that.

I have to admit that I'm hoping Mulholland Drive will be announced with a new master. I have the Studio Canal region B edition, but I would double dip like I did for Belle de Jour.

Anybody else out there want a MAN BITES DOG upgrade? The most disturbing and yet funny film I've seen in sometime.
Also I've never bought the DVD for NIGHT ON EARTH. I've always had a warm place in my heart for this one.
I would be fine with a month of nothing but upgrades.

I'm relatively new to Criterion and my taste is for English-language movies generally, and recently it has become for American 1965-1985 (or so) cinema in particular. Nevertheless, here's my wish list:

Cronenberg's Crash and Dead Ringers (with Crash being my #1)
Lynch's Lost Highway
Leigh's Secrets and Lies
Anything (almost) by Altman

And Life is Sweet is, along with Naked, a favorite of mine. I always thought the sex scene shows how all she really wants is to be 'normal', but she just doesn't know how to, or has forgotten.

Anyway, good luck to everyone

Yes, very much so

Hoping for any of the following:
Man Bites Dog
White Dog
Don't Look Now
Eraserhead
Anything by Cronenberg
Sisters (or anything by DePalma)
Hidden Fortress
The Vanishing
Insomnia
Short Cuts

Nope. That's on my eventual list, though!

I'm sort of Criterioned out after watching so many from the B&N sale last month, so I've got nothing new coming other than Seconds.

Picking up some non-Criterions with the current B&N coupon.

Been waiting on "Ikiru" for years now... Hopefully today will be the day.

"Mulholland Dr." would be great... "Le Samourai"... "Nashville"... Bergman's "Silence" Trilogy... Chaplin's "City Lights" or "The Kid"... A new Scorsese...

All would be welcome.

Criterion have had Scorsese's short films for years now, I could see them trying to get Who's That Knocking At My Door from Warner to pair them with.

Polanski's great Death and The Maiden rarely gets mentioned, so I'll mention it here. I'll be happy with any kind of Blu-ray release.

Your viewing bluray viewing/buying habits are really, really measured. Kinda reminds of what Ebert told Siskel about judiciously doling out his enjoyment as is he would run out.

Most of "Mulholland Drive" is the pilot. About the 1st 2/3? It isn't hard to understand why it was rejected by TV, if you watch just that part. The last part, after Studio Canal funded a feature film, ties-up some of the loose ends of the "pilot." At least it makes clear that
[Show spoiler]it's someone's dream, according to me
.

If you're unhappy today -- after all, hope breeds disappointment -- you can "whinge" for John Mulvaney at mulvaney@criterion.com. It's said that he lives for it.

My buying habits are increasingly measured. I funded a lot of my first 250 or so Blu-ray purchases by selling off most of my 600+ DVD collection. Now that my DVD collection is streamlined, though, I'm having to conduct myself like a state government employee during an ongoing six-year pay freeze. It's probably just as well, because my heel injury that I've been dealing with for a few months now is almost fully recovered and I'll be able to spend more of my spare time running outside, so that will mean less time to watch what I buy.

I have a huge Blu-ray collection by the standards of most people, but my Blu-rays have been chosen carefully. "All killer, no filler", just like I wanted.

I think it would be cool if they dipped into those old 1930s Chestershire and other studios mystery thriller titles that Alpha put out cheaply...maybe a box set or double feature all nice and remastered ...
Testament of Dr Mabuse would be another good one come to think of it

The Pilot version really isn't much different. It just ends when they find the body in the house. Most of the other changes are just random shots and lines here and there, although Club Silencio was shot to be a "closed" ending to the pilot for Europe — much like the closed ending for Twin Peaks. But at that time, the theatrical ending still hadn't been thought up yet.
