Criterion has (very lazily) just slapped their Blu-ray sticker image on DVD-dimensioned preview box art for some time. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Anyone who has seen the booklet from a recent Criterion DVD release knows that they design for Blu-ray (lots of unnecesary header and footer space in those DVD booklets). Blu-ray cases are smaller and thus cheaper to produce and warehouse. Also, dual format is a Blu-ray configuration for DVD buyers, not vice versa. I'd be shocked if these weren't Blu-ray-sized.

You should either put that in spoiler tags, or put up some sort of spoiler warning since everyone hasn't seen that movie, and comparing it to Zatoichi gives away the whole twist

This. I've seen DVD-sized previews for BD's often. I've had to change some of blu-ray.com's images to make them BD-sized in the past.

I don't mind the City Lights cover, though I feel I would like it more if there was contrast between Chaplin's skin color, and his shirt. Having both in gray seems wrong to me His shirt should have been white. Minor complaint I know, but I do feel it would improve the composition.

Yeah, you guys are right. I went to Criterion site and compared the covers just now and they seem to be all G1 size.
