Every Criterion I've bought (about 40) were all blind buys, and I've enjoyed every one very much. All the ones on my wishlist (25) will also be blind buys. If you guys recommend them, I'd be willing to take a gamble on them.

I'll give away a DVD to someone who appreciates film and will treat the discs properly - the only people I know who would do that are people here on the forums. Maybe we should start a thread listing stuff we'd give away.

All of this Criterion case talk reminded me that I have been wanting to order some backup replacement cases for a while now.

I just went to Casetopia and ordered 10 Criterion Blu-ray cases for eight dollars. ($11.50 after shipping).

I like having some backup cases around in the event that a case in my collection somehow gets jacked up or I buy one from Barnes & Nobles that is damaged without my realizing it.

(I told you people that I was OCD.)

I Was wondering if the possible hint of The Kid could be wrong , since i don't think they would release it in December that fast after City Lights, seems they have been releasing one silent, then one talkie, so it seems more probable that the next one might be Limelight.

Hopefully they could release The Kid with some of the shorts, since it is a shorter movie.

Let's say, hypothetically, that someone happens to be a fan of a 1967 French movie about a hitman played by Alain Delon. Would this person be happy with the December lineup?

(Okay, I know that you cannot tell me, but it's worth a shot.)

I can tell you that, from what I hear, it's not coming.

Just for fun, I'll list a few wants...

The Asphalt Jungle (since I'm on a Marilyn Monroe kick)
Bad Day at Black Rock
Arsenic and Old Lace
Forbidden Planet (Although my current Blu-ray is great.)
King Kong (Although my current Blu-ray is great.)

Ahhh...bummer. I'm sure that it'll come down the pipes on a good Blu-ray at some point, but hopefully sooner rather than later.

The master is junk. They learned their lesson from Children of Paradise.

I watched Tokyo Story for the first time a few weeks ago and loved it. I'm going to watch the other Noriko films over the next couple of weeks. It was High & Low that prompted me to watch Tokyo Story.

Bottom line is the Le Samourai master looked like Children of Paradise and was rejected. I have no idea what they will do, or if there's a possibility of going back to the restoration before the scrubbing occurred. But I'd assume people would rather wait and not have the film than have another CoP, which would just open up a whole new line of complaints.

Curious, what do you suppose Criterion could add to these incredibly stacked discs other than a wacky C logo?
Carrie would be nice, considering MGM isn't really giving it rightful due.
The Big Chill would be very cool
Dersu Uzala is crying out for a good HD presentation.
Bram Stoker's Dracula with the color and brightness levels used on the LD.

I would love to see Carrie and Bram Stoker's Dracula. Halloween would be a great one as well, but with Anchor Bay's upcoming Digibook it probably won't be needed.

I wonder if there is an existing source out there that will make a good restoration of Le Samourai possible. I hope they can find one at some point.

I don't mind waiting, but sooner rather than later for sure.

Although they are repackaging it for release next month, only this time with a 'modern' cover in the hopes of confusing a few teens into thinking it's a new movie.

KINO said they're releasing Dersu Uzala
