I bought both frames at Michaels. Original Price $40 each with 50% OFF Sale plus an addition 25% OFF online coupon = $32 for both with tax I believe.

This by far is the worst IMO. Look how awkward the title text overlap with Criterion logo. Criterion logo is a brilliant design, it's simple, elegant yet standing-out. It often perfectly balances the composition of their covers. But in this case, it's a mess.

I don't like The Red Shoes cover, either, as my reason stated in previous posts.

My favorite blu-ray covers are "The Seventh Seal", "Wings of Desire", "Paris, Texas", "Bottle Rocket", etc.

The Last Metro had an amazingly creative digicase concept, all of it lost with the replacement case.

And the gold metallic ink on The Last Emperor is ruined with the replacement case as well.
Totally, when I first received "The Last Metro", I was stunned by the beautiful color and creative "punch-holes". The replacement case lost a lot of the charm. As a matter of fact, any one of the replacement cases, if you put them side by side with the orignal digipak, you'll clearly see its color is not as vivid as the original.

You give the wacky C far too much credit. It often gets in the way. (And I'd never use the word brilliant to describe it either, for that matter.)

On the other hand, that is one of the most sucky covers in the collection. (With or without the wacky C.)

Netflix for the time being like me and there's no delay on Criterion It says Summer Hours is available Tuesday and not Vivre sa vie, but I called and they said it should be available Tuesday. I'm watching Pierrot Le Fou right now so Vivre sa vie would be a good on-deck choice Anna Karina is amazing and Jean-Luc Godard is no shabby director either Pierrot Le Fou is my first Criterion viewing and I find it very unique and entertaining, kind of a jovial, complicated, felonious romp through the lives of a couple of extremely well-crafted characters, which can be hard to follow for a novice like me at times but which I catch on to eventually. Great stuff...

Pierrot Le Fou is the most complex film I've ever watched. There is simply so much going on in that film, so many ideas and so many high-art/pop-art references. And Godard filmed it without a screenplay. Very unique film.

I was uncertain how it would be ordering it from the criterion store & how well it would fit next to the Rashomon poster, but I really like it and am 100% satisfied with my purchase, even if the Eyes in the House poster follow me around the room...

I'll probably buy it fairly soon. Amazingly enough I've never seen it before.

Got back from a screening of The Red Shoes (Restoration Print).

The quality of the print is beyond praise.

The Red Shoes might just be Blu-ray of the year.

I've had my copy for nearly a week, and watched it a couple nights ago. I highly recommend it =)

Yes. I actually liked the digi-packs. Especially because they came with Slipcovers, and the art would be different underneath. I was disappointed that my copy of The Third Man came in a regular keep case.

I wish Hunger and the Seventh Seal would go down a tiny bit in price. $28 is too much for a film, even one as great as Hunger. The Seventh seal was $18.99 a few weeks ago so I'm hoping for that price again. I have some amazon credit but I'm sure if I actually buy these they will drop in the price the day after. I want to buy my first Criterion BDs already, dammit.
