Quick question. I just ordered Three Outlaw Samurai from Amazon because they had it for a good price and then I realized that it was being sold by Amazon Warehouse Deals. Do they sell damaged or used titles? I am worried that there will be something wrong with the Blu-ray.
Thanks

If you go into your order history and click either 'Invoice' or 'Order Details' for that order you can see if the item is new or used and if used the estimated condition (like new, very good, etc).

Used items sold through Amazon Warehouse are generally in pretty good shape but anytime you buy returns or refurbished or used you're rolling the dice. You can generally get more detailed info when placing the order (bent corners, cracked case, no booklet, etc) but that doesn't do you a lot of good now.

Just got my intro to film media Syllabus.

Looks like we have two papers, one on The 400 Blows and any Hitchcock film.

Films we're watching:
-A Trip To The Moon
-The Gold Rush
-The 400 Blows
-Sunrise
-The Graduate
-The Wizard Of Oz (excerpts)
-Man With A Movie Camera
-A Movie
-Mongoloid
-Koyaanisqatsi
-The Maltese Falcon
-Citizen Kane
-Suspense
-The Birth Of A Nation
-Rope
-The Wrong Man

Thank you. I went ahead and canceled the order because I don't want to take the chance. Thanks again.

If you bought it straight from the main product page for the title then it is new. If you went into the new/used section and selected used then it would be used.

When Amazon is out of stock they fulfill orders using one of their fulfillment services.

The transfer appears to have been sourced from the same master that was used for the DVD release, but is quite good.
Thanks! I was not expecting any miracles with the picture quality on this one, so the review makes me happy.

I'm definitely going to purchase Slacker soon, but I want to purchase it in person at one of the stores to make sure that I buy an undamaged digipak.

Interesting selection, nice to see Bruce Conner in there. Have a good time with the course.

Thank you

The professor said he hates contemporary films and will mainly try to focus on 1920s-1950s.

Wouldn't the best Bruce Conner selection be Report, though?

Yeah I'd agree, I was going to add onto my post that if iScottie liked those two then he should check out Report, I feel it gives his rhythmic editing a focus and shows how sharp it can be in getting ideas across. Although my favourite Conner is probably Crossroads.

I just read the description for Crossroads and all I can say is I need to see it immediately.

Re: Report--at 13 minutes, it's a must see. No conversation about Bruce Conner is complete without it.

Crossroads has this really strange way of being emotionally overpowering and quiet at the same time, there's a feeling it has that I'd find hard to put into words. Out of the ten or so Conner's I've seen I'd put those two at the top, some of my favourite short films.

I find A Movie mesmerizing in ways I usually don't find most avant-garde films. That would be my Bruce Conner choice.

A Bruce Conner set from Criterion is something I thought about before. Would like to see it happen.

So I'm checkin' the Criterion sale on Amazon's Gold Box deal.

Kinda disappointed at how few there are on sale, and I already owned a copy of the Qatsi Trilogy. Not exactly hyped up to buy Kieslowski's Colors Trilogy, although I might consider owning On The Waterfront, one of my all-time favorites.

Wow! Alongside La Jetee and The House is Black, I should hope. Those two (plus Buster Keaton's One Week) are at the very top of the list for me.

Speaking of shorts, am I the only one here that finds The Red Balloon way, way too schmaltzy? I've seen it about four times now, and while it is wonderfully staged, I cannot engage with it on the emotional level with which it wants me to.

Those two are up there, however as much as I admire The House is Black in my two viewings, I still haven't unravelled nearly enough of it to cite my feelings about it. I haven't yet seen The Red Balloon, but I can envisage it being like that.
