I'll be happy with that unless Criterion announce something really soon.

Yeah, very cool and on a (somewhat) related note Arrow is also going to be releasing The Long Goodbye.

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=11809

I'll give Criterion a little while on these but not a lot.

I've not seen The Long Goodbye. Looks like we would enjoy it though, so we'll most likely pick it up.

Antoine Doinel is a misunderstood, young man, who leads a lonely and unhappy life. His home life is very difficult because both of his parents are very miserable and oppressive. However, it is his schooling that is the worst due to how harsh and authoritative his teacher is. In order to fill the void in his life, he turns to petty crime and other mischievous forms of behavior.

The thing that makes The 400 Blows so great is that it is a very relatable story. While not to the same degree, we have all experienced some sort of hardship and oppression like Antoine Doinel himself. Therefore, I can see how easy it is to turn to this negative lifestyle in order to fill in this emptiness.

I appreciate François Truffaut tremendously because the character of Antoine Doinel, is in essence, Truffaut himself. He weaves his own life stories and experiences into this character, to give a truly genuine and unforgettable story.

This was one of the Criterion blind buys that I was most hesitant about, but after seeing it, I can say with 100% affirmation that it is one of my favorites.

Another great thing about this film is the score. I think from the first time I ever saw it the theme was burned into my brain. I also love the happy music that plays when
[Show spoiler]he and his friend are playing hooky
. Great film; great score!

One of the great American films of the 70s. Nashville gets all the praise, because it's more "Altman" Altman, but this is easily my favorite film of his.

Zsigmond post-flashed the negative to give the colors a unique look, so I can already see a ton of Internet squabbles over the transfer, even if it's 100% faithful to the source.

Well, I haven't seen all that many Altman films, but Popeye is still my favourite (Not a joke)

I loved watching Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven on Blu-ray this evening. I'm going through the extras now, although they're carried over from the last DVD edition that I had.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how the upcoming Japanese remake of this film turns out. This carries things full circle one again, since America, Japan, and others have always influenced one another back and forth. John Ford influencing Akira Kurosawa, who influenced Sergio Leone, and so on...

It honestly depends. If they have older copies and they just so happen to give you one of those, then you'll have to mail it into Criterion and get a replacement (and you'll get a $10 gift certificate for your troubles).

As long as it says "Second Printing" you should be fine.

Also, I strongly recommend you purchase The Double Life of Veronique, as well.

Good to hear and it's funny how you slip in one Criterion tidbit (Akira Kurosawa) to make this post acceptable for this thread!
