He's referring to the Lionsgate distributed SC releases in the USA. Those came in the standard blue plastic case with a slipcover.

If it's dual format count me in!

I hate the fact the their region locked. I still buy their DVDs, but it's such a shame I can't have the blu's.

Now that they're going dual format, I can!

I was thinking about some titles that Id like to see Criterion release..and after the VCI fiasco , now more than ever I hope Criterion will get the rights to And Then There Were None - They would do the definitive release of this great movie.
I also have been taking in some Charlie Chaplin films and Im getting City Lights, what an incredible film. I watched the Great Dictator as well and the speech he makes at the end still would hold true today !!

I just reserved the following Criterion titles for pickup at the Barnes & Noble down the street, under the assumption that the Buy Two Get One Free sale is still in effect...

The Killing
The Red Shoes
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold

I'm excited about seeing The Killing for the first time, and I'm also excited about checking out another Powell/Pressburger release after the amazement of Black Narcissus and The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp.

I owned The Spy Who Came in from the Cold on Criterion DVD after having read the John le Carré novel, and watched it multiple times in a short period, so I wore myself out on it a couple years back. I'm feeling the need to dive back in and revisit the movie with fresh vigor, though. Especially after the raves about the picture quality.

I am especially curious to hear your thoughts on The Red Shoes. One of the many great films that fantastic duo put out. If you ever get the chance to rent/ record A Matter of Life and Death, do so. I promise you'll revise your Top 20 of the 1940s immediately afterwards. It's that good.

I keep hoping Criterion will pick up more Kore-eda (After Life, Nobody Knows, I Wish) and Kar-Wai (Days of Being Wild, 2046) films for Blu-ray release. I know they have their favorite directors (Criterion's Pets) but they could stand to share the love a bit. Even just 1 more of each would make me ecstatic.

Or just put out Mulholland Drive.

If Criterion is no incentive to get a multi-region BD player, I don't know what possibly could be.

One of the remaining Powell-Pressburger films that sorely needs a Blu-Ray treatment.

I should have the MoC blu in the morning if they ship it today.

If they release two or three of the following I'll be happy.
New Additions:
Persona
2046
Ain't Them Bodies Saints
A Matter of Life and Death
Trial of Joan of Arc
Gun Crazy
This next one may draw alot of WTF reactions, but I'd quite like to see Paper Moon get a Criterion release.

Upgrades
Throne of Blood
This Sporting Life
L'Eclisse
L'Avventura
I Vitelloni
Bicycle Thieves

Just watched this for the second time and, yeah, I wouldn't complain if they added this one.

I kinda hope they don't release Ain't them Bodies Saints, though.

I can get on board with this. 2046 needs a blu-ray release.

I know, I know, it's just that there is no off the shelf solution, plus we now have MoC in the UK, who are on a par with CC. Plus BFI. Only problem is nobody does digipacks like CC...

But, I'm not anal about bluray. I'm happy with DVD as long as the whole package is nice.

I would love them to release 'Persona'. There's just no decent release of this anywhere (blu or DVD), and it's one of my favourite Bergmans.
