All of the graphic sex scenes were body doubles, Jedi. If you watch the credits, you'll see that there was a double for both Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg. I think I recall reading that the doubles were porn stars or something.

So, don't get too excited 'cause you think you've seen Willem Dafoe's "wee wee," as you so put it.

And yes, Criterion has released both "The Complete Mr. Arkadin" and "F For Fake" by Welles.

Sorry for bumping.. I usually like most Wes Anderson movies. The IMDB rating is really low for a Criterion Movie. 7.2? Is this worth a blind buy?

Personally, for a first film for Anderson and the Owen Brothers, I enjoyed it more than I expected. It was a fun film! Although one of the not-so-good Criterion commentaries by Anderson and Owen Wilson though.

Really? I loved the commentary by Anderson & Wilson on "Bottle Rocket." It was a relaxed, fun, reminiscent, etc. atmosphere between two old friends.

I have never posted in this thread before because for some reason I didn't notice it. I posted a thread about this, so I should have posted it here. Sorry!

But, why put so much concern into a rating score system for a film by anyone, including all the IMDb fools, when you can watch it and form your own opinion and score? Check it out for yourself and then come back and tell us what ya think?

No, Criterion has only stated that they wanted to release it in March for Kurosawa's centennial birthday, but they've pushed it back 'til later in the year for added restoration being done to the film.

It's 30 dollars! Which is pretty expensive for a movie I have never seen....

c'mon, don't just start a thread with a title like this with no concrete info. That's just wrong...! As for a BD, Criterion stated that they were going to release this for Kurosawa's Centennial birthday, but has been delayed, but the are saying they will release it hopefully in this year, but nothing certain.

Would love to see Criterion release THE TRIAL. I'm sure they could get the rights.

Rent it! Illegally download it on the Internet! Look for a crappy copy on YouTube to watch! Buy a used copy of the crappy Sony release on DVD from years ago! Do something that makes more sense than blind-buying any movie!

basterd,

u could wait for B&N sale. create your own Criterion BD Wishlist like many here. the sale from last year was like june and December or somn like that. the cost was $18 per movie. that be the lowest you'll see Criterion BDs. i've never seen it go down to $10. even on DVD-side of things, Criterions have never been cheap.

as for Wes Anderson, i'd start w/Rushmore. that's how he broke through mainstream. but i guess ANY of his films will be great. i'd rent bottle rocket though. i am personally a WA fan, huge huge huge OCD person and i love his attn to detail. so i automatically buy all of his worx as it starts to appear on BD.

bottle rocket is probably the weakest (imho) entry because it was his first, so can't blame him. having said that, i luv the quirkiness =). i enjoy those little nuances.

Hmmm... I see I am a few months to late for The Third Man. It's out of print I see... None of my Best Buy's carry it, and I
can probably only get it for about 70 dollars on eBay.
Does anyone know where you can get it a bit cheaper?

*cough* Ahem... beginning of July and mid-November. Close, though, you were.
