my 50% B&N was tax free as well , and with amazon and ebay it always works out to be below the custom free limit.

I remember when I first sat down to watch Eyes Without A Face I didn't know anything about the film. Holy crap! You should have seen me sitting there with my mouth agape, staring in disbelief when that scene began. I was like, Wait a minute, this is a film from 1960, right?

I received a 20% coupon in my email inbox yesterday too! It's great to be receiving 20% coupons instead of 15% ones, now that I renewed my membership (well, actually created a brand new one using a different email address/name). I might very well drop by B&N this Sunday to use this coupon on something (if not Criterion, then another Blu-ray that is drastically reduced in price that I've been meaning to buy for a while).

I don't know anything about the film and now I don't want to until I see it!

Anyone read this? I'm thinking about getting it, but the price is a little too high for me to buy it without hesitation.

I can't wait to re-visit it. It was on my wishlist for awhile. I just have to be patient and wait until either Amazon or B&N have another 50% sale, or I get lucky on eBay.

I just remember seeing it on TV during the '60s in it's dubbed version of The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus. Pretty strong stuff even in it's cut (not a pun!) version. I also remember it started a trend of Plastic Surgeon Killers like The Awful Dr. Orloff and Circus of Horrors, all of which really creeped me out when I was young. Something about those scalpels going into flesh........

Same here. Maybe it's just because I hang out at this site so much, but it feels like Eyes... will be collecting a substantial number of new diehards now that it will be on blu.

Hehe. It's also just in time for my 1960's poll

Funny enough, both my first DVD and my first blu-ray happens to be the same title: Seven Samurai (I had to upgrade the DVD for the blu-ray, though).

My first Criterion blu's were these, all ordered at the same time.
Summer Interlude (the reason I decided to get a region free player)
Seventh Seal
400 Blows
Les Diaboliques
The Magician

On DVD it was: Seven Samurai & Ivan's Childhood

LD: #69 Blade Runner and then possibly Floating Weeds (I know I got Floating Weeds early in my LaserDisc collecting since that was my first Ozu)
DVD: Brazil
BD I can't remember so its either The Man Who Fell to Earth, Bottle Rocket or Chungking Express
Edit: Its Blade Runner for LD and The Man Who Fell to Earth for BD (finally remember correctly)

Side note
I don't seem to be getting any coupons from B&N and I didn't have to renew my membership it was done automatically. Would there be anything wrong with my account? I could really use some coupons

Oh God! I have a hard time remembering yesterday but I'll try:

LD-Supercop-My Jackie Chan; Michelle Yeoh phase. I got it because of the stunt work and the fact it was not dubbed. I didn't get many Criterion LDs but one of the others was Pink Flamingos! A perfect companion for Salo.

DVD-Good Morning-I'll be honest, when I got this I had no idea who Ozu was but I was intrigued by the description and the cover artwork.

Blu-ray-I ordered three from B&N-Walkabout, Days of Heaven, and Red Desert. The first two were upgrades and the Antonioni was a blind buy but I loved his other films so.......
