I was thinking about that too, but I really wanted the set this week. I already have Autumn Sonata and I've been wanting to rewatch Casablanca lately, so I'd figure I'd make this an Ingrid Bergman week before next month gets dominated by Horror films.

i hope amazon will price match some of criterions if there is a criterion-sale.
B&N takes forever to arrive and criterion does not ship blurays to germany.

It has a very American Beauty vibe thus far, excited to finish it.
I love this film, it's one of my favorites of that 70s genre. Ang Lee does such a enormous job of taking you into that time, and immersing you in its culture, look, and sound. I was amazed the first time I saw this film, amazed at how much it brought me back to my childhood, though I was a little younger during time, but it did bring a rush of feelings back. It's amazing how well he captures America during that time.

So I got $25 credit from sending my Carlos/White discs. Thought it would just be $20.

Now, bring on that sale, Criterion!

... Criterion?

I think they didn't match prices last year. Although, amazon had some CC for $17,99 in December.

Is the sale a coupon code or just a normal price reduction?

The latter (I think).

E: Apparently I was wrong.

If it's a coupon, anyone get theirs yet?

Sure, they're DVD only but I don't think a genuine film fan should be fazed by that. The transfers are pretty awesome for that format and they generally have very interesting video essays from the film-makers themselves or from cinema critics that give a lot of insight into the film.
Oh, certainly not! I just think Criterion is so far, a top notch label here in the states! But, I definitely still look around for other labels for any other types of films that are not included in their catalogue! There are others here and abroad that have really good films! It's just a matter of looking around my DVD/BluRay shops.

I may actually believe that I'm one of a demographic of cinephile that still prefer picking up physical copies of my movies! I have not been sucked into streaming yet. If I am at a friend's house that say, has netflix for example, I'll watch it if he/she puts it on. Otherwise, on my own, I hate streaming movies. And I don't torrent either.

I kind of miss the old days when I had to go to my local movie rental shop for VHS/laserdiscs! Those were the good ol' days!

I'd be curious to hear what kinds of films you've shot? If you don't wish to share this on here, send me a private message if you'd like.
I don't mind sharing. Which do you mean? Personal little shorts? Or actual projects I've worked on? If it's my own, then I've very little projects I've done. And the stuff I did do, I'm not too fond of. They were early experiments and attempts at composition, editing, and pacing.

I did my first micro-budget project a few years ago, which to this day is still in the process of getting completed. I got asked to direct a short webisode for a friend's idea. That was really challenging and fun. Though, I've been hungry to do another.
