For anyone interested in Ride With the Devil, I picked it up today at Best Buy along with Vivre Sa Vie. You can pricematch with walmart.com and pick it up for 26 dollars.

Oh, we are interested. It's just that it was already mentioned in post #8377 on page 419. Thanks for the reminder, though. I'm glad I have my MOC blu-ray, but I'll get the Criterion, as well.

Haha, hey now! I only said that because billzfan said someone offered him $80. If someone offered me that much, I'd sell mine in an instant.

Thanks!

Personally the Criterion black level seems more "right". Robert Harris gave his ringing endorsement of the CC disc, too. Seems like a no brainer.

Maybe that's my OCD kicking in...but it kinda throws off uniformity. Why not just leave Breathless in it's native French title? Or why not change Vivre sa vie into an English translation?
It doesn't even "kinda bug" me, but I've sometimes wondered why they do that too.

Just watched Breathless, which is the first Godard film I've watched.

I enjoyed it, but one thing kinda threw me off.
In the scene where Patricia was talking to her publisher/American boyfriend type thing, while he was telling her the "story", how come it seemed like the 10 second long story was compiled of like 8 different takes? It kept chopping real fast. I'm not sure if that was the intended effect, if it's a certain "style" Godard uses, but I didn't really see it anywhere else in the film.

Overall I enjoyed the film. I actually watched the StudioCanal blu ray, which I understand there are a few differences in subtitle translation?
[Show spoiler]I'm kinda confused about the significance (if any) of the 3 face thing, the "sulk", and why he did it before he died.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching some of the other Godard films I own, and am going to try and watch them in the order they were made/released.

"M" looks great, and am very happy about the darker image.
the MoC is way too light for my tastes even though it could be closer to the original look.
who knows, but I much prefer the CC version.
just got finished with vivre sa vie.
have always has a strange attraction to this film, and am beyond psyched that it is already out on blu and on Criterion no less.
amazing.
I now have all 6 Godard films that have been released on bd.
YES!!

that's the 6!
at least one great director is getting his due on bd.
it's definitely great to be a Godard fan right now.
can't wait till some others get up to 6 releases--
like Bergman or Fellini perhaps.
they are both stuck at a pitiful 2 each.
I mean c'mon studios around the world--
let's get crackin'!

I actually can't believe Godard has so many already on blu. Not that I am complaining.

I just hope Criterion can release Le Petit Soldat and Les Carabiniers from the "New Wave" period (even though I have the dvds, would love blu's from Criterion) and HISTOIRE(S) DU CINÉMA. I feel like the first 2 named don't get enough respect from even Godard fans. Also, HISTOIRE(S) DU CINÉMA could be the greatest film ever made.

Yes, I'd like to pick up Le Mepris as my next Godard. Big names like Brigitte Bardot and Jack Palance...would be interesting to see how Godard did with an adaptation of Homer's Odyssey. Jack Palance walked by me and spoke at my commencement and did one-handed push-ups on stage just like at the Academy Awards, which was pretty cool. And Brigitte Bardot really is kinda cute in a bikini She also dons a black wig as an homage to Anna Karina I believe. Does Criterion usually release something that is already part of the StudioCanal Collection?

It's a shame Criterion didn't get to release Contempt on Blu-ray. I realize Studio Canal released it but that doesn't count because they're terrible.
