Criterion is a company that puts out Blu-ray's, Friday the 13th is a film franchise.

I'm thinking why people are so obsessed with films in general.

Your point?

Criterion not only puts out some of the best film packages, but they also introduce films to a broader audience. I probably wouldn't have watched many of my favorite Criterions had they not released it.

IMO, On the Waterfront is a must-have. I haven't seen La Haine, but Pale Flower and Hunger are both great films. Although, I can't bring myself to watch Hunger again. It's kind of a tough watch. Not Salo tough, but it's not something I wouldn't see myself watching multiple times.

Ordered America Lost and Found: The BBS Story.

Haven't seen any of the other movies besides The Last Picture Show (the reason behind buying the set). How would you guys rate the rest of the films (Head / Easy Rider / Five Easy Pieces / Drive, He Said / A Safe Place/ The King of Marvin Gardens)?

Almost anything this side of VHS looks better than Wellspring.

Criterion also puts out DVDs. I know what are they, we are talking about obsessions towards something that somebody else do not understand.

I do not mean to say all the movies that Criterion puts out are great, but they are certainly made by more innovative & credible directors & and are much more deserving than those 12 "same" movies. Still I see people going ga-ga over FT13th release. So if you can explain that you can now explain the obsession.

Here is a poll that may provide answer...

If you've been reading this thread, I'm surprised that you have to ask that question. It's because Criterion puts out great films on disc in great editions.

thanks! yes, On the Waterfront was probably a default #1, and i really want Hunger, but, as you and others have told me, i may be better just using Hulu for a watch as replay value may be low. i may just do that. so difficult to decide.

Was "neat" a incorrect word in this context or am I missing something?

not at all, i suppose the quotes were unnecessary that said, i did search, and the case is indeed neat (although i am probably very much in the minority here in that i prefer the plastic cases.) my OCD leads me towards uniformity. definitely. definitely.
