Answer the following:

Film I Most Want Added to the Criterion Collection

Good Luck!
If that means they would actually listen... that would be very nice. Thanks TJS_Blu

iScottie, I remember you showing some love for that Mondo Vertigo print a while back. Well, they finally arrived, and I figured I'd show you them.

[Show spoiler]

I was actually planning on selling the one you liked so much, but it looks so nice in person.. Might just end up keeping both of them.

I'm 1 state over from where they shipped from and still don't have mine yet. Talk about odd shipping times! Also, they've been in 3 states so far, none of which are WV.

Anyone else find it interesting when Criterion does the "Visit" videos where director's pick some free films from the collection? It's always fascinating to see which ones they pick: favorites and as-of-yet undiscovered movies. It's quite fascinating.

Yeah, it's nice to see them at Criterion.. liked Philip Kaufman's DVD picks...
... apart from the directors... I must say the video w/ Bill Hader was pretty hilarious - bought the Hausu Blu-ray the next day.

I just finished The Battle of Algiers, and while it was a lot different than I expected, there's no denying that it's one of the most engrossing in the entire collection.

Back in the day, my sister, one of my nephews, and I used to joke about DVD labels listing "collectible booklet" as an exciting extra, even though it was -- at best -- just an 8-page bit of fluff. When Criterion came out with The Battle of Algiers on DVD, I took one look at the 60-page book that came with it, and said, "Now, that's a collectible booklet!"

Watched On the Waterfront tonight with the commentary track enabled. Richard Schickel is SO much better when he has someone doing commentary with him. This was a great listen. I have heard some of his solo efforts that were serious snoozers. Brando's performance is somehow even more powerful without audio.

My order of Seconds, The Game, Kiss Me Deadly, and Bigger Than Life arrived today.

Seconds and Kiss Me Deadly were blind buys. I watched Seconds tonight and was absolutely amazed. Terrific, beautiful transfer and a completely terrifying movie. Very pleased with my purchase.

I just finished Seconds as well, and was very disappointed overall. The ending was interesting but the movie just drug along too frequently for my tastes. The cinematography was excellent as was the PQ but the movie as a whole was a let down.

I guess they can't all be winners.

I agree .. Seconds didnt do anything for me. It wasnt to my taste per se.
I actually rented it first to be on the safe side. They are kinda expensive to blind buy...unless there is a sale, which I took advantage of and wound up getting and keeping a couple of Charlie Chaplin silents !

I'm looking forward to seeing what extras they dug up/created for Tootsie and The Big Chill. As well as It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World, since the MGM disc already looks really good. I assume Criterion is releasing the longer roadshow version.

I think I loved it so much because it truly felt like a feature length Twilight Zone episode since that is my favorite television show ever.

The whole thing just felt mysterious and surreal and it just drew me in.

I want me some Oliver Stone in the Collection. Hell, I'll even take that Final Final Cut of Alexander he has been working on. Just give me something.

I actually like Alexander, but I know I am way alone there. I think Talk Radio would be an interesting choice, but that movie has aged a bit now with the decline of AM radio.
