Montel, ease up on the booze! Unless you're from the plain states and then all is forgiven. Hehe...

So some little cousins came over and decided to take one of my criterions off the shelf and smash up the box. I contacted CC about getting a replacement case for my DVD of Empire of Passion. But they said they dont replace those. Only artwork, booklets, etc.

Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement case for my Criterion? This particular case is the clear ones. That I think they implemented around the 440s.

So...what you're looking for is a simple clear single disc dvd case?

That shouldn't be too hard to find...I ordered some not too long ago.

http://www.meritline.com/14mm-single...--p-20365.aspx

$4.99 for 25 of them, if it happens to any others.
I ordered a bunch so I could switch out older Criterion dvds that came in black cases.

Only have time to watch 1 Blu-ray tonight and can not decide which to watch first, Summer Hours or Vivre Sa Vie. Suggestions?

"Vivre Sa Vie" is much more fun & simple, in my opinion... "Summer Hours" is more heavy-handed just from the subject matter. Those things you can tell by reading the plot synopsis, though. So, what kind of mood are you in?

Well, I just finished working all day on my day off, so I am thinking fun & simple!

EDIT: Just finished Vivre Sa Vie which is not so fun but more of a tragic downward spiral! Interesting film and not at all what I was expecting.

I just bought The Third Man (w/ plastic case) from ebay for like $62. I did like it when I first saw it, but didn't LOVE it... but I think I may enjoy it more the second time round (I'll probably make myself enjoy it for that price!) Plus, I did always think it LOOKED fantastic.

I've been living in the US for the past 9 months and am going back to the UK where they don't sell the Criterion Collection (i'd actually virtually never heard of the company before joining these boards). I have a multi-region player, but given that Third Man is only available second hand, adding in the fact that in the future I'd have to pay to import it as well, and the fact that its value will only increase, made me bite the bullet and get it now. It will be my first Criterion DVD or Blu-ray ever!

There aren't that many others out now or in the future I've seen and like enough to get (though I did quite like Howard's End), but I would like to watch Paris, Texas, The Last Emperor, Seven Samurai, Hunger and Black Narcissus - I've heard good things about them all. The Red Shoes and Che I've seen but probably would not want to get; and I've seen half of 8 1/2 and half of Gomorrah - I want to finish them though the latter I found pretty hard going. I think I'll rent the DVDs and see what I think, but in the meantime I'll have to make do with the Third Man for my Criterion fix!

I'm in the UK - If you're anything like me, you'll be importing more Criterion when you get back home. And once the ash cloud clears up...

Would you happen to know where I can find the clear figure-8 double disc DVD cases that Criterion uses on many of their DVD releases? Have a couple with broken hubs. Thanks.

Vivre sa vie looks magnificent on Blu-ray. I think the format was made for Anna Karina and those gorgeous eyes of hers

My new SVS PC12-Plus subwoofer came yesterday and I have it hooked up and calibrated. Which Criterion Blu would you guys recommend I try out first? I'm thinking maybe Monterey Pop or one of the Kurosawa films. I have almost all of the Criterion Blu's so feel free to suggest any.

Just completed Days Of Heaven. It was my first time with this movie. The cinematography is very beautiful but many times I was left wondering exactly what it was the characters were about. The movie itself felt more like watching a poem then a movie. Of course if you are a fan or at least know the work of Terrence Malick you will know what I mean. I can't say that this is a movie I will wish to see again even if I actualy enjoy Thin Red Line and New World quite a bit.

I know exactly what you mean. For me Days of Heaven is merely pretty to look at. The character development was aweful. I only watch it for the cinematography.

The Thin Red Line I really enjoy on all accounts. I absolutely cannot wait for that release. It's by far my favorite Malick film.

Well I just ordered Ride with the Devil, Vivre Sa Vie and Chunking Express. Not bad for $80 shipped from Family Video.

For a minute I panicked when my order status read "My Life to Live" as one of the movies I ordered. Then I realized that's English for Vivre Sa Vie.

That is funny I will order Chungking Express next, I still have to get Yojimbo. I liked it enough to make a purchase so I can enjoy it as often as I wish
