My guess would be MGM (or whoever distributes for them) releases the remastered version of the original when the remake is released. The new digitally remastered print played theatrically in LA a while back with Peter Weller in attendance.

That would be (the movie, not the extra. I really don't find Refn all that interesting, despite my love for Drive)

Thief is long overdue for a Blu-ray release. I have it on the DVR and On Demand, so I will try my best to watch it this week.

After picking up the Criterion release of Rushmore, I revisited it tonight for the first time in... wow, probably 8 years?

I forgot how awesome this film is on almost every level. The characters are great, the acting is fantastic, the comedy is pure gold. Very well written and directed. Heck, even the music ties right in so well!

I liked Drive, but I did not love it, and I have no intention of purchasing it. I liked the soundtrack and I liked how the film utilized Hong Kong-era John Woo's knack for putting sappy or comedic scenes right next to violence. For the most part, though, Drive fell flat with me. I cannot really put my finger on it, but, for me, watching the over-the-top violence in Drive was like hanging out with a middle school kid who keeps using really crude language in an out-of-place manner during normal conversation just to look cool in front of his friends. The movie tried entirely too hard to be disturbing.

Anyone think Criterion might be prepping Like Someone In Love for a blu-ray release? Given IFC's established relationship with Criterion, as well as Kiarostami's, and the fact that it hasn't even seen a DVD release yet (plus, the film had its theatrical run before Frances Ha), I'd say it seems likely as their next "new" release. I would love to see this happen. The film is in my top 10 for this year.

I would love this. I haven't ordered the UK Blu yet, but I've been tempted. Can't wait to watch this again.

I have a feeling you are going to LOVE the rest of his work. Especially Valhalla Rising.

Valhalla Rising
has passed me by so far. I'll probably stick with Centurion (a not-so-guilty pleasure of mine) for now.

Totally jumping topic, but I think that you were the one who recommended Crashout. I ordered that today, along with a bunch of other Olive Films flicks.

Someone at the Criterion forum said that Refn told him that he just stopped by to get free stuff.

I just placed a pretty big order from Amazon.co.uk (In The Fog, Breathe In, Stories We Tell, Post Tenebras Lux, Something in the Air) and left it out in hope that it's coming to Criterion. I likely could have done the same with Something in the Air, since IFC and Criterion have teamed up for Assayas' last two films, but I missed it during its theatrical run here and have been dying to see it.

Totally sorry...I was seriously making a joke. Did it sound convincing? I just couldn't resist.

What the others said was true though about the licensing expiring.

I was the one who recommended it to you. Not exactly because it moved me, per se, but because I think it's definitely up your alley. Feel free to send angry PMs my way when it doesn't live up to expectation.

(I hope you know the Refn thing was a joke. Valhalla Rising is non-stop gruesomeness.)

Just broke my CC cherry with Cronos and The Devils Backbone. Any rumor of CC doing Pans Labyrinth?

Nope. Unlikely, too, since New Line hold the US rights.

I think it's very likely to be announced soon (I hope). If it wasn't being released by them, I'd think we'd have gotten a date for it already.

Anyone know when the B&N sale begins? When did the November sale start last year?
