Used to live in this neighborhood and this library is the best around! I salivated a bit when I walked in and saw their movie collection. Looks like the days of giving Redbox and Amazon Instant Video my $$ are over!
I visited Redbox two days to to rent Iron Man 3.

I should have gone to the library to look for Criterions instead.

Consider me in the minority but I think Criterion has released enough Kurosawa for a while.

I wouldn't say no to more Hitchcock or Kurosawa but there's no huge rush either.

No rush for me either, I'm not too interested in those titles

I would like the Antonioni upgrades to be announced tomorrow so that I don't order the DVDs and regret it A.S.A.P. (same with Y Tu Mama Tambien and this is quite the perfect time).

Ghost World would be a good January title. In fact, that would be great.

Well now that's just crazy talk.

I mean, between the box set and the MGM and Paramount singles and UK releases and oh yeah, Criterion releases we're pretty much swimming in Hitchcock titles and I couild kinda see thinking the good stuff has all been picked over and there aren't too many major releases left in his filmography.

Kurosawa is another story entirely though. There's a lot of upgrade gold left in them thar hills.

That's great news. I'll defiantly be able to pick up the remainder of my wishlist for sure now.

Great news indeed - that means I'll be able to get the Zatoichi set sooner rather than later.

Ghost World is my favorite film of all time! After Crumb and Louie Bluie hit the Criterion Collection I thought it would just be a matter of a short while before Ghost World appeared. No such luck.

A fully loaded Blu of Ghost World would be my event of the year!

I'm still Anderson's biggest fan. Hanging Rock has been talked up so much I'm just really excited to check it out.

But now that Mr.Fox has been all but confirmed we have a new Anderson title to pine for from month to month.

Yes, I agree there, seems like the iron is hot to strike. January should see the release of Gravity on blu and a load of Oscar buzz. It's free money for Criterion.

I caught Ghost World a while back on TV (in HD) I though it was good, it was the right kind of quirky for me to enjoy but I wont be in a huge rush to go out and watch it again. After recently watching American Beauty, Ice Storm, the 3rd season of Homeland and American Horror Story: Coven the angst ridden teen drama is starting to wear thin with me.

So far my November to buy list includes:
Frances Ha
For All Mankind
Hunger (long overdue, I have almost nabbed it off amazon a number of times)

But with all sales I'll probs buy something completely different...

I hope so. My wishlist includes films by Lynch, Polanski, Mann, Melville and Antonioni. Doubt any of them would get a mention tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong though.

Does anyone know the value of Last Year at Marienbad on Blu-ray, and whether it has a replacement case? I found a copy of it for $19.99, but the case and slipcover are beat up in two corners.

I wont even bother guessing, but January's have been good months for me in the past. I think Anatomy of A Murder and a Hitchcock movie came out in some recent January releases but I cant remember details..

Hopefully they announce Alfonso Cuaron's first feature on Blu-ray!

it HAD a replacement case, but they are unavailable now at the Criterion shop.
(strangely enough man who fell to earth replacement case still shows as available)
the value of the title new/sealed is maybe $60 or so at present.
it can be had for $30 or so used.
I would certainly jump on it new for $20, even with mild damage.
it's hard to find it mint anyway--if not impossible at this point.

That would be perfect timing because I will have graduated from college by then and I'll be in a similar situation as Birch's character.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I forgot to ad that this is a used copy (open).

I think I'll buy it and maybe talk the guy to lower the price since it's damaged.

I also emailed The Criterion Collection about a the casing availability.
