Default Hitchcock

1. Vertigo (and the commentary track on the Masterpiece blu-ray is a must-play for all cinephiles)
2. Psycho (the original slasher flic)
3. Rear Window (the set alone has me in awe)

Like nearly everyone else commenting, I could have easily continued the list with other films I love. One the bubble: North by Northwest and Frenzy.

even if Passion is second tier DePalma, it'll still make my top 20 of this year. Hell, I even love third tier DePalma like Black Dahlia.

Absolutely hate Casualties of War, though. DePalma and corded humanism do not mix.

I love Topaz, and I consider it to be Hitchcock's best work of his late-career films, meaning the best of the films that he made after Marnie.

Topaz features some striking visuals, and I love the historical relevance of the film. It's a surprisingly realistic film from a director who never excelled at realism. As such, it's an oddity in Hitchcock's canon. Just the same, I was on the edge of my seat during my first viewing, and since then.

Which one's the Cold War-themed movie? I fell asleep in that and never went back.

I Married a Witch Blu-ray REVIEW

We could not post an early review. There was an issue with our screeners (for this and a few other titles).

I hope you enjoy this release

Torn Curtain, starring Paul Newman and Julie Andrews, and Topaz are both overtly Cold War, but Topaz deals more with the Cuban Missike Crisis era.

I love 'em both dearly.

Just finished Eyes Without a Face. Excellent addition to CC and a great transfer to boot.

Top 3 Hitchcocks for me:

1. Vertigo
2. North by Northwest
3. Rear Window

But those are obvious choices.

The sting of no announcements was soothed somewhat by finding Seconds and Autumn Sonata in my mailbox when I got home tonight but then returned when unwrapping Seconds a piece of the top casing was broken!I swear for all the right things Criterion does, their cases seem more fragile than regular ones from other companies.

I think I'm going to add Blow Out as the seventh film I'll buy during the sale. That'll be my one and only addition so I don't go too crazy with my wallet.
