I don't trust Mill Creek with a film of that length (160 minutes!).

Now, if you're referring to Fassbinder's Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (which Criterion released on DVD ten years ago), that's a different story.
The Fassbinder film is obviously superior, so you have a point. Such a moving film.

You've got that right. Criterion should be in the transportation business, pretty much nothing comes along for ages, and then suddenly three come along at once.

Thief is very much a pre-order for me. Finally at least one of the films on my Criterion wishlist gets a release.

Damn, Throne of Blood just had to be released in January, right after Christmas. I'm still in two minds whether to get it straight away or wait till February.

As for, Rififi. I already own the brilliant edition that Arrow Academy released back in 2011, so I have no interest in the Criterion edition whatsoever. It's great that Criterion have finally released this film.

Fair enough but I would rather roll the dice than fill Criterion's slate with every Columbia title I might kinda sorta want.

For one thing, the Columbia titles I really want might get lost in the shuffle.

I hope you're kidding.

Jeez. The 3-film Roberto Rossellini set last month, an Antonioni this month, and Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion in December isn't enough for you?

Great announcements! Worth the extra day's wait!

Super into Throne of Blood and Rififi!

La vie de bohème looks great, and we loved Le Havre.

I'm not really familiar with Terence Davies or his work - Will investigate.

Never seen Thief - Looks fun.

Not sure if I need Mad Mad or not...

If you're a fan of old school heist films, then I strongly advise you to purchase it.

But I want my Avventura and BlowUp and Bicycle Thieves in HD.

No, the month is alright.

Now that you mention it, it's been weeks since we've had Italian.

I am, so it looks like Rififi is going to be preordered once Amazon puts it up.

I'm looking up The Long Day Closes right now on imdb.com, and it seems like a beautiful film. I had never heard of it, and it's not on my want list, but I'm sure that I'll be mulling over it during the next few months.

La Vie De Bohème and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World do not quicken my pulse right now, but I've got plenty of other stuff that month to keep me busy.

They didn't do that badly with Ship of Fools, though quite frankly it could've been better. I'd rather it was a solo title with more bits thrown at the film, and some nifty extras, but the two-fer is at least satisfactory. Hey, at least it's in the proper ratio, instead of open matte like Columbia's LD and DVD were.

Brazil
Anatomy of a Murder
Paris, Texas
The Ice Storm
Charade
House
Godzilla
Belle de jeur
Shock Corridor
Kiss Me Deadly

The ice Storm
Paris Texas (another one of the best films ever made..A+)
And then either house or Salo.

I'm squeamish but it wasn't too bad. (But I'm still not seeing "Only God Forgives"!!)

For the most part, I HATE seeing violence with sharp objects -- swords, knives, machetes, etc. Gun violence is not as disturbing to me.
