Are there any rumblings out there as to if the Zaitochi boxset is limited in any way? I know it doesn't state on the criterion site....just not sure of the demand or availability in stores. I try to avoid B&N online ordering...although I guess I could have it shipped to a store.

Can't be long before the first Dual Format releases start arriving with people early. Wonder how the packaging will be affected.

I've asked twice but no one has bitten with an answer including the reviewer of Tokyo Story (which I believe is a digibook) and City Lights.. Go figure, I guess.

It's like Criterion doesn't want it to be out as it's some secret or something.

I'm still holding out hope that it's not Digibook packaging.

Or perhaps it's that no one who's in the know thinks it's an issue.

It's been answered many times in the past.

Tokyo Story = digipak
City Lights = amaray case, similar to the Samurai Trilogy case.

Saw City Lights the other day and its just a normal sized blu ray case. Tokyo Story hasn't come into CNL yet though so I'm not sure if that's a digipack or not yet.

It shall be accomplished....in just a few minutes!

My thoughts about this film will be posted soon!

I just HAD to take advantage of this Saturday night with the clocks turning back an hour. This is the night to watch a long epic.
What did you think of it?

Great call!

Border Radio is singlehandedly the worst Criterion release EVER! I nominate it for a Razzy award for awfulness. If anyone here loves this movie though, speak out! I actually "hate" it.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's such an under appreciated and underrated masterpiece and I can't wait to own it on Blu!

Never bought a Criterion blu before (and don't have a multi-region blu player yet, but I'll buy some of these first while there's the sale). I'm thinking Close-up, Life and Death of Colonel Blimp and Marketa Lazarova - I haven't seen any and I like buying blind watches rather than ones I've seen before. Although, I will probably get Bigger than Life as well. Maybe I'll get a DVD set like the eclipse for Oshima or Czech New Wave though...

Does anyone have a clue what the latest Criterion clue might allude to?

I'm killing my wallet for this sale. Probably going to go with ten films. Maybe towards the end of the month I'll splurge and get some more as a personal Christmas present.

M
Badlands
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Thin Red Line
Blow Out
The Last Temptation of Christ
Repo Man
Rushmore
Videodrome
Sweet Smell of Success

Any real benefits from a B&N membership for online shopping ONLY? Nearest B&N is about 3 hours from me.

It's worth the purchase if you can get it for 50% off plus a $5/50 B&N coupon! I think Cimino is an underrated director and should be talked about more in the pantheon of world's greatest directors (like Kubrick, Scorcese and Spielberg).
