I didn't plan on buying any today, I would like to get at least one during the sale but the BN store I went to earlier had all of their stock lined up together and they looked so nice it almost got me to grab one instead of waiting. If they would've had the Early Bergman set I think I would've went for it.

What's the deal with that coupon code? 15% off one item? Is there a minimum spend? When does it expire? Works fine for international customers and none members?

Thanks a lot, i just ordered 3 Films by Roberto Rossellini for $36.71

Seems they didn't update the MSRP price so it was $39.99 instead of $49.99

Just got "Seconds" for $15.95 after the 50% sale and a 20% off one item coupon, free shipping with my B&N membership.

Taking it easy during this sale with some other priorities to take care of.

I have a coupon for best buy...since BB price matches other retailers will they match the 50% Crietions so I can use my coupon on top of that. My BB has a few Criterions so I am sure I could find one I want.

The one I want the most is the Czech New Wave and they're all available on Hulu, so I'll probably just watch them on there until I end up buying the set down the road.

I feel weighed down between watching Blu-rays, On Demand, Hulu, and DVR, that I wouldn't have time to watch them anyway. So, I mind as well save some money lol.

Ahhh, what the heck...

I decided to order Blow Out as well, since it's only $16.95 after tax with all of the discounts online, and that's still in my budget.

Blow Out is my favorite Brian De Palma film, but I had been putting off upgrading my old DVD. After enjoying Coppola's The Conversation a couple weeks ago, however, I got to thinking about it again.

So, La Notte and Blow Out so far.

The rest (should) wait until my November 15 payday. I want to buy the Ingrid Bergman box set in person, since it's a digipak box and I want an undamaged copy.

Just used the 15% off coupon RMN15BN: took it off the most expensive item! I just snagged SECONDS, THE UNINVITED, and EYES WITHOUT A FACE.

Okay all, I need your help.

I want to watch a complete criterion today. I have about 4 hours max (so I can't justify Fanny & Alexander or Shoah) but I have so many back logged movies I've bought, I would love to get at least 1 of 2 in today.

To put it into perspective, my favorite directors/movies are as follows:

Kurosawa (Yojimbo/Sanjuro, High & Low, Seven Samurai)

Truffaut (400 blows, The Last Metro)

Melville (Army of Shadows, Le Samurai, Leon Morin)

Goddard (Breathless)

Kubrick (Paths & The Killing - if you'd have told me 15 years ago that all his post Strangelove movies wouldn't come close to his earlier films)

Chaplin (uh, everything?)

Powell & Pressburger (life & death, Black Narcissus)

So, the movies I've not watched are:

The 39 steps
Bigger Than Life
David Lean Directs
Island of Lost Souls
Lonesome
Medium Cool
Orpheus
Gold Rush (I'm not leaning toward this one, since it's the most flexible and I can watch it whenever)

A part of me is of course leaning to the brainless options if a They Live, but I really want something with substance, but isn't going to make me suicidal

And if you're willing, I'd be in your debt if you could rank them. Only if it'd be fun, of course. I'll take anything

Thanks in advance!

I've only seen The 39 Steps, David Lean collection and Bigger Than Life.

For fun, watch The 39 Steps,
David Lean will make you ponder,
Bigger Than Life is a fascinating film for the 1950's.

I hope it's not an EA-esque partnership. I use Mass effect as an example. Even from the first game in the series, there was a special sort of magic. Fresh and perfect. Then EA bought bio ware and while I love ME 2 and most of 3, they cheapened them with multiplayer, codes to get unique equipment and stuff that just doesn't belong in the series.

Criterion was criterion, they matter a great deal. Every criterion I own is a work of art. From the case to the booklet to the extras, they exude class and perfection. They were relatively small, and I think that allowed them to be so specific and unique.

That said, this could be a huge win if they're able to take awesome movies that are deserving of the Criterion stamp and present them to us In the manner we rightly deserve.

Only time will tell! I'd live to hear more thoughts on it for sure.
