Thanks for the reply! It makes quite a bit of sense and I can definitely see it being released faster than Hoop Dreams.

Paris, Texas
Hoop Dreams
Heaven's Gate

Above is my first haul of the Criterion sale, I can't wait to dig into them!

Weekend (2011)
Kuroneko
Tokyo Story

will be mine by the end of the month. I'm also renting a few other Criterions in order to determine if there will be any other additions to my collection at this time.

I believe it was on late last night / early this morning.

If I were you, I'd catch it on the TCM On Demand channel, as no one knows for sure if and when an upgrade will be coming.

I don't get it.

I for one hope this only strengthens Criterion and makes them more powerful and solidified for years to come.

There may even be more frequent releases as well, rather than 5-6 a month.
I doubt they could release more than they do now, i mean they are putting an average of 72 films a year including individual films on box sets (probably close to 100 this year including the Zatoichi box set), is there even another company releasing more or close to that films per year?

As I understand Hoop Dreams was shot on SD video and probably won't make a transition to blu-ray.

Made two orders with B&N today, one for pre-sales and one with currently released items.

Zatoichi: The Blind Swordsman
Tokyo Story
City Lights
John Cassavetes: Five Films
3 Films By Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman
Eclipse Series #21: Oshima's Outlaw Sixties

All but the Eclipse set on Blu-Ray. There's a few other titles I'd like to grab, but those were the main ones I was wanting, and I'll have to wait until I get paid again.

I think this is most of Criterion's horror-related Blus:

Antichrist
Cronos
The Devil’s Backbone
Diabolique
Eyes Without a Face
House
Island of Lost Souls
The Night of the Hunter
Repulsion
Rosemary’s Baby
The Uninvited
Videodrome

I wanna own all of these!

Well I bought a few movies today I got the "la notte" trilogy today. World on a wire, knife in the water, seconds, revanche and Gomorrah.

I'm still conflicted on the last five to buy. Any help narrow these down??? I did the rotten tomatoes reviews and watched trailers all are ranked high and look good, I even Asked my father I the phone, who's big on many great movies, he said sweet smell of success and spy who came from the cold are a must. And side note for y'all he said Heavens gate he saw in the theater it was boring lol.

The List:

Anatomy of murder
Sweet smell of success
Double life of Veronique
Spy who came from the cold
Amarcord
Last temptation of Christ
Frances ha
Vivre sa vie
Life/death of Colonel Blimp
Battle of Algiers
Killing of a Chinese bookie

Awesome thanks! That's pretty much the list I had compiled but I wanted to see if I was missing any. I own 7 of the ones you listed and plan on picking up the rest during the current B&N sale.

Why does the nearest one with a video section have to be in Seattle damnit!

Speaking of coupons, you wouldnt by any chance have a link to those would you?

They cut off the coupon codes earlier today. Not a fan of B&N and their memberships.

Why? because they charge sales TAX.

I'd rather just wait for Amazon when they start blowing them out at the end of the year since I have prime.

What a hassle sending out a mass email offering 50% OFF criterion only to login and see only a select few crap titles.

See the first post on the Barnes and Noble Criterion Sale 11/5-12/2 discussion thread. There's a link in there to click on.
