How much does a Criterion DVD at a B&N sales usually cost? I want to pick up Videodrome, Eating Raoul, Dazed and Confused, and Repo Man.

The DVDs are $14.99 - $19.99 each + sales tax (where applicable).

Red Desert has one of the better commentary tracks in the Collection, and I strongly recommend that you watch the film again with the commentary option. I am normally averse to "play-by-play" commentaries that mostly describe events onscreen, but this particular one comes in handy.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first viewing of Red Desert without any aids, and the movie works best when taking things at face value with the splendid use of color, but the commentary addressed some subtleties that I missed. ...and I missed quite a few.

I understand that La Notte does not include a commentary track, so I may be up the creek without a paddle for that film.

Never even crossed my mind to check for these. I need to pick up That Obscure Object of Desire. Even though I still have a heavy dislike for the whole Studiocanal Collection/Lionsgate distribution deal that pulled so many great titles from Criterion only to have the majority of them sit in limbo.

Just checked, it's even out of stock at Barnes&Noble.com, with the lowest prices from third-party sellers $89.44 used and $140.02 new.

Are we sure this isn't going out of print?

I may have to run to my local Barnes & Noble to grab a copy just to be safe.
We need to get to the bottom of this. If it's OOP I'm gonna pick up a copy.

It may well be going OOP soon. I can only say with certainty that Criterion does not list it as such on their site at the moment.

If it's something you do want, and have been putting off getting it, then you might as well pick it up now. I did that a couple of months ago when the rumors of it going OOP started.

They could haul out all their old extras from their laserdisc edition...

Thanks for the suggestion.

I really need to rewatch it because I wasn't giving 100% of my attention to the film because I was extremely exhausted this afternoon and I was trying to think of this and that throughout.

okay.. well given your explanation it is a nice reference, but pardon me for not having the script memorized.

That's what I did. I was very let down by the movie but kept in for trade bait if it goes OOP.

I just finished rewatching the Samurai Trilogy this afternoon. This is my first time watching it on blu, although I had seen it on DVD before. I am somewhat surprised this set doesn't get talked about more. The films are wonderful, and the transfer is such an upgrade over the previous releases. If anyone is on the fence about it, I would highly recommend picking it up during the sale.

I wasn't tryin to mock you man, it's just you were being delusional without any strong evidence. You can ask anyone on this forum and they will tell you DVD will be phase out soon. Criterion is a great independent company that knows how to adapt, but right now they're at the top of their game with Hulu and the fan base that continues to grow, you mistook the DVD+Blu-ray format as a negative when all criterion is doing making the transition a bit easy for those who haven't upgrade to blu ray yet

It hasn't been announce by criterion yet but they sure are lagging. If you really want the digipack version it's still available instore you just have go hunting zip codes around your area, call the store and have ship it out for additional $4

Just wondering: How many people that own it have watched the entire film? My main problem with buying it is that I probably wouldn't ever watch all of it.

I'm beginning to think that we'll never see that Criterion edition of C.H.U.D.

I'm deeply saddened by this.
