No, see the difference is that everything you just listed is a placeholder. Amazon creates those itself based on people's searches, so you are right in saying that a placeholder has no relation to whether a title is actually coming or not.

The 5 titles mentioned in the Blu-ray.com news post are actual, functional pre-orders. Amazon has a price they are asking, and they're willing to take your order. That is an entirely different matter, and has always in the past led to an actual release announcement.

The linked article couple of pages back said that Criterion confirmed it.

You'd have to pressure Warner for that one.

Oh I know it's not a Criterion. Just my personal favorite. Audrey Hepburn would be part of my personal Criterion Collection however

I do have Charade Criterion on DVD.

Hey CG, would you at least be willing to offer a mea culpa for completely dissing a rumor that was later confirmed.

If you like to read, which it sounds like you do, I said they could be real, but I wouldn't pre-order something that even had a wrong title (Darjeeling Express). Also, has Criterion announced them on their site yet? No. So I will wait.

Also, with all of the stupid stuff that is posted on here on a daily basis regarding laziness, I don't see how mine differs.

But yes, sorry to the ones who held out pre-ordering "Darjeeling Express" because of me.

(playing devil's advocate) The Thin Red Line is the only one with a release date attached to it, so until the other titles are announced anything can happen. Or in a worse case situation we could have another Ran incident where an upcoming title could be canceled.

On a side note, I need Videodrome in HD like yesterday...

I kid too. I don't actually think people who were going to pre-order stopped because of me.

There is no release date for The Thin Red Line. It was the first pre-order that appeared on Amazon and people started speculating that it might be released in August. But there also isn't need to be pessimistic and skeptic or surprised. Most of these releases had been already somewhat confirmed by Criterion.

Even if these are all accurate (and I personally believe they are), they will at best be spread out between Aug-Dec.

That's exactly what I was thinking, one release per month for the rest of the year.

I don't see why people hate on me and my opinions. I'm not the one saying silly stuff like "Movie A" is the best ever and nothing can top it. It's crazy.

CC, I like that you see no harm in this. You, kndy and some others are really nice and can take all opinions.

The wrath of CG can take over at anytime.
Saying a film is one of the best of all-time is not "cynical." Might want to look up that word. The assertion was merely a subjective opinion based on widespread critical belief.

Those are notifiers and don't offer a pre-order option like the Seven Samurai link.

Amazon creates those placeholders if enough people search for a given title on blu-ray.

Gotto love terrible logic. Because there's a ton of ignorant people who go OMG SEVEN SAMURAI TEH BEST!!! That makes it true? Even though popularity has never equalled quality in movies, music, games, anything? Guess Transformers/ Dark KNight are even better.

Whoohoo! More Kurosawa and Wes Anderson films. Now we just need all the rest of the films those directors made and Criterion will be complete. Seven Samurai is soooo awesome. Greatest movie EVAH!

[Show spoiler]Sorry just had to mess with CG a little :P
