I could see myself getting all those titles, except Breathless which I already have.

Would my unopened BD-only copy of Breathless become something of a rarity?

If I'm reading the listing correctly, The Underneath is also being featured on the King of the Hill set (though I sadly think it's DVD-only); two of Soderbergh's '90s gem getting the Criterion treatment!

In for them all although I have breathless already. Can't wait for Blue just wish it had more features.

Edit: just saw the note about a special edition coming later. Good.

I guess as some others have mentioned, this is just a "temporary" release until a more special edition comes out? I find that a bit unusual!

Probly but it wont happen, can anyone recall that rating(NC-17) getting nominated? Shame didnt even get a nomination even though it was more of "hard" R

Nice. All we need now is a Criterion of Ocean's Twelve.

I'm not happy about the constant disappointment in regards to those wanted titles, but they're still putting out good films and I have faith they will come eventually, hopefully by the end of the year.
I dunno, you'd have to search my posts for that date.

Anyway, I fully understand that the chances of Criterion releasing what I want to see are extremely low so maybe I was being naive in the past. And like I said, every now and then they release a title that piques my interest and might be something I end up enjoying.

And let's face it, I'll be back speculating next month too. Just not as optimistically. Heh.

Technically they do release multiple editions, as they tend to include more extras when they upgrade DVDs to Blu-rays.

Maybe this sort of film will be the Academy's cup of tea?

Interesting how the director, Abdellatif Kechiche, is already in the Criterion Collection with The Secret of the Grain (a Criterion title I still have yet to see!).

With such a low MSRP, I'll probably pick up this version of BItWC, haven't seen it yet, but have heard great things. Breathless has been on my list too, so I guess I'll wait a few more months and pick up this version.

Judging from.. everything they've done, this is doubtful. Like I said before, it is not eligible for Best Foreign Film. That was the highest chance of it getting any love from them. Everything else... yeah, that won't be happening. I'd love it if it did happen (Adele deserves all the awards), but it won't.

Agreed. I'm not exactly calling for spine numbers, mind you, but the Ocean movies were pretty good (with that 'for what they were' qualifier) and Twelve was very solid.

Right. I didn't even realize this film is NC-17.

But then again with that new report on PG-13 movies being more violent than R-rated films these days (in terms of the amount of gun violence), I think these MPAA ratings have boundaries that are starting to become blurred.
