Zatoichi is an incredible package! 25 enjoyable films in one set is insane. BN should have another sale early next year (I hope), so you can snag one then. Good thing they're on YouTube! I will watch the first Zatoichi film today, possibly even the second as well. All of the praise for them has me excited.

The very thing I was worried about! Getting things too quickly. I love it all though! Can't resist the sale.

Thank you, Silent! I will watch White today and post my reaction/thoughts afterwards.

Happy to see that this one has more humor in it.
They are all great films, enjoy!

Figured I'd throw up a pic of my month-long haul of CC titles from the BN sale. Made my last purchase today with BREATHLESS.

I would think if B&N can manage selling all of their regular Criterions for $18 for the better part of a month, Amazon could handle one title at that price for one hour.

My round-up:

And I'll definitely be picking up a good handful more in the 40% sale. Never bought a Criterion title before but I'm hooked.

I understand, but for people like me (The nearest B&N is 3 hours away and no coupons work online, nor does the 10% discount) the Amazon sales are a lifesaver. I've picked up 3 so far through the sales, hopefully a 4th tonight.

Just saw Francis Ha today. Must say I think it's one of the best films I've seen this year in the top 10! I think its gotten mixed reviews here but i thought it was Well worth the blind buy...

Has anyone seen Kicking & Screaming? May have to buy that one now lol.

Also off topic Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series Blu-ray Set is like 70% off today only whoa nerdgasm may buy that because that show rocks!

I'm in Australia too. I tend to buy from Amazon, though recently their packaging has been not great and every case is damaged.

I've also ordered from Barnes & Noble a few times. Their current 50% is a great deal.

Slow to get here though.

I also have a couple of Criterion's that I am looking to sell or trade in the near future if you're interested.

I just blind bought Inagaki's The Samurai Trilogy as part of the lightning deal from Amazon. I was buying a Blu-ray upgrade for my Seven Samurai DVD so I figured it was topical. I hope I enjoy it...

I keep forgetting how expensive the shipping from Amazon.com is to Canada. The per-item charge used to be less, but even so, somehow it all managed to beat paying regular price, so I guess that's really all I can ask for.

Another Australian here. I've only ordered from Amazon.co.uk, which has been ok with shipping. BN.com shipping was passable ($20 on a roughly $300 order) but hasn't arrived yet. I'm thinking of buying a few more things today. Maybe no blus this time, but strongly tempted by the Late Ozu set...

There are no CC releases on the lightening deals schedule.

Haven't seen Frances Ha, but Kicking and Screaming is probably my favorite comedy from the CC.

If you haven't picked up any of the films from that set from BFI on blu-ray, then this is a good source for getting those films in one package.

B&N: horrible customer service, respond time may be OK but everything else sucks about them.. customer friendly? not really. if something gets damaged or lost you are more or less screwed.
wow thx, this is really helpful for me - from Hong Kong.

I want The 400 Blows so bad! Not sure if it'll be rereleased or if I should get it on eBay soon.

I checked them out, but looks too expensive to probably justify for me - sometimes quantity does outweigh quality I guess. Though if there's any I particularly love I might do that down the road. I already have a great 7 disc Ozu set from Madman in Aus, but might upgrade the ones I particularly love (I think An Autumn Afternoon might be my favourite so far…).

But put in a final BN.com order - Late Ozu Eclipse, Lola Montes blu, plus they had Olive's Blu of Ford's The Quiet Man for $15, and the StudioCanal blu of Contempt for $10, which were pretty easy purchases for me

I've not got any more information than you BUT, I am pretty confident it's going to be reprinted in the new dual format soon, much like they just announced for Breathless, which went out of print at the same time.
