While those were quite entertaining as also the one on High&Low, I think SP's finest moment is the Kagemusha commentary, where he gives you a lot of historical context about the actual Shingen and his life, and the various points in which the film goes along with or diverges from the history.

Not too likely since Studio Canal own the rights and could release it themselves.

It should be. A ways back when the announcement about Studio Canal purchasing the rights to the Tati films came out, someone had sent a letter to Jon Mulvaney asking what would become of their releases and he replied saying that Criterion had managed to renew the rights for all of their films (excluding Trafic I guess) and that they were working on putting together new editions of them sometime in the future.
All we gotta do is hope they won't take too much longer!

You definitely win the Criterion Haul Award as far as I can tell.

It's been fun watching people's collections climb 25 up immediately because of the Zatoichi set.

I only purchased a handful of Criterion titles this month.

The Uninvited
Tokyo Story
City Lights
La Notte
Blow Out
3 Films by Roberto Rossellini Starring Ingrid Bergman

I purchased a heck of a lot of non-Criterion titles, though, because of the 10% sale and the Kino sale at ImportCDs, so this has been my most expensive Blu-ray month ever. I even pulled the trigger on The Buster Keaton Collection, although I had originally planned to wait until 2014 for that one.

Nothing for me from the Amazon flash sales yesterday, because those deals did not strike me as all that good considering the shipping costs added on. Since Amazon raised their free shipping cap to $35, I have not done a lot of business with them on the domestic front and, instead, have only ordered sporadic stuff from Amazon UK. I've been ordering a lot from Barnes & Noble and from ImportCDs.

I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to list the Zatoichi set (DVDs only) on ebay.

Amazon Prime solves a lot of problems. But I can see where people go the B&N Membership route if they have 1 close by.

However thanks to free shipping, I picked up 4 of the lightning deals in the past week or so. In fact, they just dropped off 1 that was "forgotten" on the truck on Saturday.

I snagged:

The Rules of the Game
The Four Feathers
12 Angry Men
Fanny and Alexander

They also did Carlos, Quadrophenia and a few more that for some reason, I can't remember. Most of them were between $17.49 and $17.99. Carlos was more, as was Fanny and Alexander.

Can't remember but I think they also might have re shot a few scenes because of it.
It was shot silent and then post dubbed in 3 languages. The fact alternate takes were made for the different languages to lip sync properly lends to the fact it was always intended as a sound film.

Oh, and throw in Silverado (Blu-ray) for good measure.
Don't forget The Cowboys. Great movie that deserves its top honors. One of Waynes best films and also a nice baddie role by Bruce Dern.

Ahhh. I always just click "Add to Collection" and leave the sorting up to the website. I don't tinker with it at all, except to take a glance at the list ever so often when I'm trying to recommend a title.

When I added The Buster Keaton Collection upon receiving the set in the mail last week, my overall collection number was increased by 13.

I do find it amusing that I own more Blu-ray titles from the 1950s than from any other decade. I also have more titles from the 1940s than I have from the 1990s or from the 2000s.

I have only ever watched The 400 Blows (10/10) so a complete set on Blu-ray would be

You add one film, it adds 25 to your total films. It does that for all box sets.

Geez, don't you work here???

At the end of the day, I bought these titles during the B&N sale:

City Lights
Frances Ha
Tokyo Story
5 Films by John Cassavetes

I'll try to watch some Zatoichi films between now and the next sale and decide if I need it then.

You can choose to have your collection count by SKU or by movie title. My collection count is by SKU, for example.

I'm a sku guy too, though I've noticed the android app defaults it to film count and I haven't been able to change it.
