Actually, this would be a keen night to break out the Back to the Future Trilogy that I received in the mail a couple months back.

I'm going to stick to the plan and watch Shack Out on 101, though.

Tomorrow will probably play out the same way that last year's January 1st did, since I'm running a New Year's Day 10K race in the morning, and will probably not get back online until the Criterion cartoon hints have already been posted and everyone has already made their guesses.
That's okay, though. Just be sure to guess for In a Lonely Place, Gilda, and The Lady from Shanghai.

The National's album is great stuff. Probably my second favorite record of their's after Alligator.

Diary of a Shinjuku Thief
Boy
The Man Who Put His Will on Film
The Ceremony

They'd make a great quintuple feature for NYE!

Yes! They are all in my queue. I hope they're better than Japanese Summer. Sure, it was striking to look at, but I really found little to latch onto as far as narrative and charicterization goes. I guess I like my Oshima intimate, like In the Realm of the Senses. You know, films where Oshima expressed his political concerns, but didn't lose sight of what his characters were feeling.

Which of those should I seek out first?
