Lifeboat

$25.60, including international shipping. I ordered Journey to the Centre of the Earth (1959) from EzyDVD last month, and am pleased with the disc, so it was a no-brainer to pull the trigger on Lifeboat after finding out that it, too, is Region A friendly.
(As with Journey to the Centre of the Earth, the EzyDVD site states it as Region B, but the disc is confirmed Region A playable by Blu-ray.com.)
Just FYI, "The Devil's Brigade" is also Region A playable although the disc and most sites list it as Region B. So far, all the "Hollywood Gold Series" blu-rays from Shock/Veg (Lifeboat, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, The Devil's Brigade, Exodus) that I've purchased so far are ALL region A playable despite the discs being marked Region B. I have a couple more of these releases (Bandolero, The Unforgiven) in my sights.

It's on the sleeve itself with my copy of Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The otherwise-awesome cover art makes up for it, though.

Is there a list or a catalogue of all of the titles in the series? I'd like to browse to see what else they have on offer.

Speaking of, I'm about to sit down to watch Journey to the Centre of the Earth in its entirety, as I only skipped to a few scenes when the Australian Blu-ray first arrived. (I've seen the movie about a dozen times during my life, so spoilers from scene-skipping were not a factor.)

Also...

This is one degree separated from Criterion, but I watched my Blu-ray of Logan's Run last night. The movie features Jenny Agutter, who also stars in the Criterion title, Walkabout. Blu-ray.com gives three and half stars to Logan's Run for picture quality, but I'd personally bump that up to four at the least. I think that it's an impressive high definition presentation. I've always liked revisiting this one, via my old DVD, but my appreciation has increased tenfold after seeing it on Blu-ray.

I watched The Man Who Fell to Earth again last night and I noticed that scenes from The Third Man are in the movie (actually, an entire sequence devoted to The Third Man)! When I originally saw The Man Who Fell to Earth, I had not seen The Third Man yet so I didn't understand the reference but seeing it again last night was great since I understood it all more.

Isn't it even more ironic that both The Man Who Fell to Earth and The Third Man were the first two Criterion Blu-rays to go out of print and that the former film is linked to the latter film?

Is that a coincidence or what?

I actually snatched it up for $5 at Best Buy 2-3 days ago but haven't had a chance to watch it yet, glad to hear the PQ is excellent.

I'm so late to the party, but I'm excited about the possibility of Red Sun being released by Criterion. I was seriously considering importing it from Japan, but I'm going to wait and see if that's what it is.

One of the clues definitely looks like Ringu, and that's long overdue for a BD release in the US, but I'd be shocked if Criterion released it.

I wish that Criterion would pick up the 2001 film, Pulse (Kairo), as a title, because it is my favorite of the Japanese horror films.

I would certainly buy Ringu, though.

Great buy and great film!

It's approaching the single digits here in Georgia for the first time in decades.

I ought to watch Letter Never Sent.

Deer Hunter seems highly unlikely, but you never know.

What a great film to watch on frigid days like this, (16 below in Wisco) I also recommend a viewing of John Carpenter's The Thing in these cold winter days.

Also, Thief comes out the day before my final exams.

I guess it'll be a great reward for bracing through them.

That's sounds a bit more definitive than whats probably warranted...
