I still consider the 3 colors trilogy one of the best Criterion releases. Absolutely love it. I find it interesting, after reading so many peoples reviews of the set here, that for the most part people either think White is the best movie in the set or they think Red is and think White is the weakest of the 3 films. I know there are a few people who deviate from this, but for the most part that seems to be the case. Personally I'm the later.

Would love for our resident poll guy to make a 3 colors trilogy poll on what is the strongest and weakest film in the set.

Agreed. I really like all three, but, if pressed, I would rate them:

1. Blue
2. Red
3. White

All three are of such a high caliber that I foresee (after I give them all multiple viewings) that my favorite will simply depend on my mood.

Definitely picking up The Double Life of Veronique during the Feb sale.

Anyone else order the replacement case for The 400 Blows? I'm thinking about it but $11.75 is a bit high for just a case. So I might just settle with the digipak.

Yeah, I've only run through them once so far and I think my favorite will be whichever I've watched most recently.

I was just gonna wait til the next sale and throw that in with my order. I'm usually fine with the Digipak releases but I dont care for this style one very much. (Only one I have of that style)

I'm under the impression that The 400 Blows is going to be re-released in new Dual Format packaging soon. I may be wrong, but I'm cool to wait.

Agreed. I really like all three, but, if pressed, I would rate them:

Having watched all three multiple times I would rate them:

1. Red
2. Blue
3. White

although it would be close to a tie between Red And Blue.

I rate them in this order as well, although I love all three.

Great avatar, by the way.

Criterion has previously had a 24 hour flash sale on it's website in February (usually near Valentine's Day) where all in stock releases are 50% MSRP. It usually runs from noon one day to noon the next. There is usually very little advance notice of the sale beginning. Following Criterion on Twitter or Facebook helps, or hanging around a place like this.

There's no correct order--jump in and enjoy!

I've been dying to watch something Italian from the 50s-60s the past few days, and since my copies of Oedipus Rex and the two Antonioni's from MOC got lost in the shuffle of my recent move, I decided to borrow Le commare secca from my library (I really wanted a Pasolini, but they don't stock any). It's really fantastic and I was shocked to find out it was a debut. The stream of filmmakers that came out of Europe during this decade is just astonishing. So much talent.
