It should be released with The Adventures of Antoine Doinel. That way we can get Antoine and Colette in HD, too.

That's Tower City. I tend to avoid that theatre because they don't take care of it and riff-raff tend to talk during the shows.

The cinematheque is essentially a lecture hall/classroom in a building with the Cleveland Institute of Art. It's not a fancy place but the programs director John Ewing puts together are always excellent.

I'd kill to have anything nearby showing something other than 1st run movies. As it stands, there's no film festivals, no 1 time showings, no nothing.

I feel very fortunate to live a few miles from it. My brother moved out to LA 3 years ago and is familiar with the various theaters out there. He said the Cleveland Cinematheque's film schedule is just as good or better than anything out there.

I just hope it stays open forever.

I like yours, too!

I'm debating on reading the novel. I've heard great things about it, but I also kind of want to go into this one without much knowledge.

Following Criterion on Twitter or Facebook helps, or hanging around a place like this.
For what it's worth, in my order history the last two year's dates were Feb. 15, 2012 and Feb 26, 2013. I'm hoping if it is done again this year, it's at least after the 18th so I can get Foreign Correspondent.

One of my very good friends on the site also helped me get Aki Kaurismaki's earlier film, I Hired a Contract Killer, on Blu-ray from Finland. (A good number of the Finnish director's films are now out on Blu-ray there). The transfer is very nice.

I tried ordering that one from CD-ON tonight and didn't have much luck (not knowing a word of Finnish didn't help). Account set-up didn't seem friendly to non-Finnish addresses, either. Any tips?

EDIT: Never mind. I sorted it out.

You can try using google chrome because it can translate the page for you.

Here's hoping they stick with the 26th, so I can get Breathless and Tess (along with The Double Life of Veronique).

Guess Persona will have to wait till July...

Thanks. I was able to translate but it was still not working out, and wouldn't accept my Visa. But I dug up the thread on these releases in the Scandinavian section and found an alternative that is English-friendly, ships worldwide and takes PayPal, so it's sorted! Been wanting to see this one since I first heard Joe Strummer's song from it 20 years ago!

I'm hoping that too so I can grab up all the Feb titles (Except possibly Blue Is the Warmest Color - I'll probably wait on that) and Late Ray Eclipse.

Thanks! Me too! Although, that is just one of many films on my list that I want to see... Here is something I put together in terms of most anticipated films for this year (I already shared this with Ausjdm):

Here are my top 10 anticipated films for 2014:

1. Interstellar (Looks like more brilliant science fiction from Chris Nolan)
2. Inherent Vice (Oh yes, P.T. Anderson + J. Phoenix? Sign me up!)
3. Only Lovers Left Alive (Jim Jarmusch is one of my fave. directors)
4. Cyber (Michael Mann is too...and this looks awesome!)
5. Noah (I admit, this Aronofsky film might be either brilliant or horrible)
6. Maps to the Stars (Cronenberg! Yesssss! Very intriguing story)
7. I, Origins (Wow, I really like the concept of this film)
8. Knight of Cups (Yes, Malick is on a roll lately with releasing new movies)
9. Under the Skin (Just to see Scarlett as an alien seductress is so worth it)
10. Like Father, Like Son (I like Hirokazu Koreeda's films of substance)

Notable mentions: The Rover, Grand Budapest Hotel and Jupiter Ascending

To those that don't already know, we seem to share similar tastes in actresses.

[Show spoiler]

Still, even here in Pittsburgh we don't have a movie theater downtown (other than one tiny indie screening room that has awful sound/picture). I remember seeing a collection of short films at the Cleveland film festival the one time I was there. But ya, its a shame that Tower City is sorta ghetto.

Hey! I was born in Pittsburgh (all those many years ago) and actually had a couple of my no-budget independent movies get recognized in the Cleveland Indie Gathering in 2006 and 2008 (one got 3rd place for "Family Features" and the other got an Honorable Mention). Don't know if they were ever screened for the public, however. As far as artfilms up my way, it's basically my basement theatre and Blu-rays from Criterion, Cohen, Kino, Olive, et al., although the local Community Theatre is having a foreign film festival this month and the university has a "Global Visions" film series during the school year. At least one of our two multiplexes tries to plug in an obscure indie film when they have an open screen. Got to see MUD, PROFILE OF A KILLER, ENOUGH SAID, and QUARTET, among others on the big screen with maybe 10-20 other audience members.

Criterion's 30th anniversary is coming up this year. I'll bet there could be a flash sale to coincide with the month/day of their founding. I haven't been able to find it online.

I posted this over at CF, too. This would make sense as it's been on their Hulu channel and MOC has released their own blu-ray last year.

The novel is truly brilliant and the ending left me breathless with how beautifully it was written.

From reviews the film does not follow the book that much besides the basic premise.
