Ugh..for a $50 MSRP product, it's cheap, nasty, and mostly awful. Can't they make up their minds and stick with ONE TYPE OF PACKAGING? Preferably not a crappy one like this? I mean, the logical thing would be to have a version of the clear case with hinged disc holders inside, but oh no, they had to do something DIFFERENT again

Wow that's awful. I'd throw an absolute fit.

Yeah, I hate their cardboard packages. I wish they'd go all plastic. They make up to 9 or 10 disc cases now, they might be wider but at least they'd be sturdier, more resistant to damage and have mostly the same dimensions as their standard 1 or 2 disc BD cases.

I was not happy. Apparently their policy is to not resend international orders. I've heard lot of other international horror stories from B&N. For example I've known people who have been told they have to return extremely damaged books to get a refund and B&N say that the cost of return is their responsibility. It cost more to send the books back than they were worth!

+1

I have already held off on purchasing / pre-ordering some new titles that I really want (Investigation of a Citizen, Tess, Fantastic Mr. Fox) because of that damn digipak packaging that they are using with the 3-disc dual-format releases. I still have an unfounded hope that they will offer plastic replacement cases for some of these releases like they do for other past titles that were originally released as digipaks (400 Blows, Last Year at Marienbad, Bottle Rocket, etc.). Actually, I should probably email them to suggest this idea to them.

Thank god that Thief and The Long Day Closes are only 2-disc releases.

am i one of the few that actually doesn't mind the cardboard packaging. I also don't mind the zatoichi case either, and i would never want to make a custom case, since i think the original really stands out in a collection

I just got one of my packages from the sale a couple of days ago, so you never know - Maybe you'll get a refund and a package...

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't secretly hoping they do still show up. Fingers crossed because I really want that Zatoichi box set. I even bought the last movie from Amazon UK on DVD to put in with it so it's a complete collection (sans TV series - I already have the newer movie on Blu-ray).

It's a huge possibility. One time, a package of mine arrived three months after it was declared "lost." So, you never know!

yes you do want the zatoichi set, as of right now, it's my favorite box set which before went to universal monsters coffin and bond 50 , and favorite criterion release ever .

I'd like to add that I don't have a place within 3 hours of my home where I can look at the digipacks and buy 1 undamaged. I have to hope that what I get in the mail is in decent condition. My copy of Breathless could be called acceptable, but my OCD is crying over it.

The relevance of Videodrome seems to have magnified over the decades, in my opinion. The concept of our bodies being physically altered by media technology goes hand-in-hand with our constant access to it these days. This really is a magnificent film. It's also worth noting that my childhood crush on Deborah Harry is still in effect.

Well, okay...

[Show spoiler]Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Deborah Harry blah blah blah blah.

By the way, do you know when it is happening?

Sorry for all the questions
Sorry, I have no idea. It's all speculation that they'd have a sale for their 30th. I've searched online and can't find anything other than the fact they were founded in 1984.

As for international customer I believe they only ship to US and Canada.

Was just watching Tarkovsky The Mirror and noticed that there is a scene which reminds me of the hint of the girl with her hair in front, it may not be Ringu after all.

here is the clip:

As somebody who can literally walk to Barnes and Noble in less than ten minutes and inspect packaging, I adore the digipaks - they're just so substantive to look at and hold.

(I also love the totally-unnessecary effort of having special art made for the inside of the digipak that most people won't even see or pay attention to whatsoever)
