I'm not surprised by that, actually.

Interesting to know, I guess with every deal for the films they aquire there are always some limitations. That is too bad. I may suffer to buy the DVD set if this is the case.

Admittedly, I'm no film buff. To each their own, I've never even heard of the two you prefer.

The ones you seek are intended for fall releases.

Carl at releaselists.com had Red Line up for Aug 17 release since the initial twitter indicated 17 or 24, but your point is understood.

It's Masters Of Cinema, who I think releases a lot of The Criterion outside the USA? I could be wrong however

Well Carl doesn't work for Criterion, and Criterion is for film buffs not to re-release every studio film. Criterion's website is the only thing you should take news from. Those Amazon pre-orders even had a misspelled title.

Thin Red Line should come soon for you, it's one of the early announcements from that Amazon leak.

Are the Sternberg's licensed from Paramount or Universal? In either case, I wonder why they're restricting these films to DVD only when both companies have licensed for Blu on other titles.

Criterion prob thought releasing Silents is not a $ game, and boy are they wrong. They are getting smashed on facebook about it.

Yes, was only commenting on the pic. I think Master Of Cinema releases a lot of the Criterion titles outside the USA or it does seem that way when you look at their collection. I suppose KINO as well

People are complaining about the Von Sternberg not on Blu and Criterion's reply on Facebook was:

Sorry, we don't have the rights for the Sternbergs on Blu...

I think they didn't get the rights thinking silents don't do well in their opinion of not releasing them, but they are wrong. People want them. It was a $ thing for Criterion I bet. Sad.
