Granted 23.22 is still a good deal on this blu-ray, but i would like the extra 20% off as i am broke! What gives?? It said on the link that it expires June 1st.

The same thing happened to me on a movie. Don't know why. As far as I know, you don't have to be a member.

Yeah, I would like to stop reading/seeing repeated amazements that Seven Samurai and Thin Red Line still haven't been announced. Could easily come up with a couple more I'm tired of reading about too.

+1. This ties into my post about the leak and everybody thinking they know what Criterion will release before they announce it. I, for one, feel that they may have held one or two titles back in order to keep customers in suspense. I mean, we all anticipated that the Sternberg box would likely be DVD-only, but I think the two-BD August and two separate releases from the same director are subtle hints that they turned the tables on those who would presume to pre-order everything put up on Amazon. If you think about it, allowing all the leaked titles to go on sale as described in the article would insinuate a vulnerability in the company that competitors (both domestic and international) might want to exploit, and Criterion has a long tradition of being officially tight-lipped on the new releases until the official announcements each month.

Did you read my whole post? It was sarcastic. I think people have problems reading around here. To quick to respond to things.

I don't know if this will apply to your case but for me this is what happened:

Added "M" to my cart, logged in, went to check out and got that error message when I tried to use coupon. So I cleared my cart and logged out. Visited BN again through the GSA link and added M back to my cart. This time I checked out as guest rather than my account I already had and the coupon worked fine. "M" blu-ray for $18.xx shipped.

I can't believe there really are only two Blu-Ray releases announced. If I buy both Crumb Black Orpheus will they at least supply the lube for all the other titles we got screwed on?

Last month 2 blu announcements came a couple days later, so it could happen again.

It could be. I just know it was later. I could go back pages and pages to see when it was if you want me to?

Crap, it wasn't last month, it was 2 months ago for the June releases. Hold on, I'll check.

I believe it was Close-Up and Everlasting Memories. I recall those being announced later on in the day. Maybe the next day.

I found it. The first wave was announced on the 15th, then on the 16th me and ccfixx made posts saying those were now on blu. So a day later.

So it could happen.

If it does it'll likely be for the L'enfance nue only. We already know what they said about the von Sternberg films, and I just don't see a Blu-ray being a priority for Louie Bluie.

Jeff at criterionforum.org re: von Sternberg films:

"These are new high-definition transfers, so that's not the issue. They licensed these from Paramount back in 2007, when Blu-ray wasn't really a consideration, and they currently have DVD rights only. They didn't get the Blu-ray rights for any of the 14 titles they licensed from Paramount. So far, the only title that Criterion has gone back to Paramount about and renegotiated for the Blu-ray rights was Days of Heaven, and I understand that took some convincing. Obviously the legendary cinematography on that particular film makes it a special case worth spending extra time and money on. I'd like to see a Blu-ray Sternberg set (as well as Ace in the Hole, The Naked Prey, and other Paramount titles), but right now it just ain't in the cards."

Makes sense.

I hope they can do a blu for that Pialat film. He deserves it, with only having one title in the collection before L'enfance nue. They should of had more of his films in the collection by now.

I just find it weird to have only 2 blu-rays. Not that I won't buy the von Sternberg silents because those are my top releases to get, it's just weird with the 3, 4, and 5 blu's a month they have been doing.

We have 4 months left of announcements this year, and it's crazy to think we could have a month that would have Breathless and Seven Samurai. I doubt that happens, but it's a 1/4 chance.
