Usually they're excluded unless CC makes a mistake (has happened once or twice).

If the discs are in stock they're included. For example, the 2/18 releases might be in stock on the day of sale, say 2/15, and be eligible for the discount.

ps. This does not happen very often since the sale frequently happens on a release day.

I wonder if we will ever get a bluray release of Sword of Doom? I would love that.

I also wish Criterion could grab the rights to lone wolf and cub

Watching Closely Watched Trains now. Wouldn't mind an upgrade on this. (With some extras, please!)

Perhaps this is a common question, but do we know why Benjamin Button is in a standard amaray case as opposed to the standard Criterion scanovo clear cases? It's always prevented me from purchasing it, stupid as that is.

Yeah, kinda stupid to choose packaging over content. I guess that's more important than, you know, the movie.

That's always made me hesitant to buy it as well. I'm pretty sure that movie didn't get the full Criterion treatment, maybe that's the reason.

Benjamin Button is kind of a "Criterion In Name (and Spine #) Only" release. The packaging and distribution are very Paramount.

Not only that, but the content is by Fincher's team, not Criterion. David Prior has been responsible for the bonus material for Fincher's films since (I think) Panic Room's 3-disc DVD set.

It's kind of like Paramount licensed the Criterion name and format. I still think CCofBB is worth owning, but it's obviously not Criterion material. Even the little booklet's info about the transfer is not called "About the Transfer" like in a normal Criterion disc, but as "A Note to the Viewer." One of the oddest BDs out there for collectors. But certainly not rare or a collectable... I'd like to know the terms of that arrangement since the disc is typically sold everywhere and for cheap.

Teorema is out there (although more restrained than I anticipated). It involves Terence Stamp a mysterious visitor to a wealthy family. He seduces them all, male and female (even the maid!), and changes them forever. Many believe Stamp's character is a god and Pasolini is showing us how people react to "spiritual awakenings".

I'm still thinking through what I saw. It's definitely worth a watch if you can find it somewhere.

Jealous! Teorema is one of my favourite films. I know I'd jump at the chance to see it on film!

Blue Is the Warmest Color Blu-ray

p.s.

This probably isn't news here, but I wanted to leave a note that Abdellatif Kechiche's L'esquive a.k.a Games of Love and Chance is also out on DVD.

Pro-B, thank you for the review! I cannot WAIT to rewatch it at home.

I had the pleasure of being able to see it at the theater and I was blown away.

I'm getting the 'Blue' release next month but is there any word/guess of when the edition with all the extras will be released?

Blue is the Warmest Color is a whole lot of movie (180 minutes) for an inexpensive price ($19.96 on Amazon).

This is the basic edition to draw the masses into the web before Criterion releases a more elaborate Special Edition later in the year.

It's going to be 30 minutes longer, more than likely.

They'll probably add interviews, the Cannes winning speech, and what not.
