Hahaha... yeah, sorry about that. I get my hopes up each month just like the other fans of Criterion's output, but I have to also keep a reality check on myself so I don't explode from the antici.........pation.

For some strange reason I just found RAN on blu-ray advertised at dvd asian.com and it is the Criterion cover with the blu-ray label in the lower right corner, but the company making it is called "japan".

I thought that Criterion had delayed this dvd ... or am I thinking of something else. Here is the cover so you can see for yourself ...

Please forgive me for not reading the whole topic, but how big is the chance of getting "The 400 Blows" with new packaging from Amazon? I would love to see that movie in my collection and it's still on sale on Amazon.

If you mean the new clear case Criterion has used for The Wages of Fear and In the Realm of the Senses, then 0%. The 400 Blows only comes in the cardboard-style case Criterion used on previous releases.

Nope, they have not done that nor discussed any plans to do so.

I wouldn't let packaging keep me from buying a Blu-ray.....

Citizen Kane, Wizard of Oz, Brazil, etc... can be shipped in a folded up brown-paper-bag tied with twine, and I'd still buy them!!!!

If that poll was a "Definitive" factor in what they were to release/announce.... they'd have to have all four prepared prior to setting the poll up..... I just don't see that....
Another case of wishful thinking on my part. I also believe it would be unlikely that they have all 4 films prepared. On the positive side, this gives us two more films to be excited and suprised about!

Hello! All I read was "Qatsi" and my eyes lit-up!!! I'm hoping for the Reggio trilogy to be released on Blu-ray soon, along with "Anima Mundi." It'd be great of Criterion gave these films the special treatment they deserve....

Would also like to see "Mishima: A Life In Four Chapters," "Dead Ringers," "Days Of Heaven," "The Ice Storm" and "Unbearable Lightness Of Being" on Blu in the near future, as well.... (Naturally, there's a ton more from Criterion that are definitely worth the Blu-ray transfer...!)

I suppose I'll have to write to Criterion and give them my two-cents' of advice....

Both Dead Ringers and Unbearable Lightness of Being are dist. by WB's now. Criterion lost the rights. unfort. It took me forever to get a NON-boot of Dead Ringers there a tons of them out there. I wanted it for the commentary track mainly...

I believe the WB DVD release has it 16:9. so it may become a catalog release from them in the future and WB's I think released a 2 Disc Special Edition of Unbearable.

Thx for the info, PP! Hopefully both Cronenberg's and Kaufman's respective oeuvres will make it onto Blu-ray in the near future.... I'll keep my eyes n' ears open.... (I'll also keep checking the Criterion Web site for the latest, as well as this Forum, natch....)

Default It's a miracle!!

Holy freakin crap! my copy of Benjamin Button finally shipped today!!

It's a Miracle!!

So happy I pre-ordered 2 months in advance straight from the distributor's website! Nothing says service like getting an item a week and a half late!

Seriously though, at least I know that Criterions customer service is top notch, they responded to all of my e-mails. Thanks Jon and Susan!

wife decided she was too tired to watch this last night....... I tossed it in to check out the PQ/AQ everyone was gushing about....

It's PHENOMENAL...... either way, after 30 minutes, I decided I didn't want to watch it with the wife after seeing the whole thing, so I watched Bottle Rocket with the Commentary on......(at least half of it..... before finding the wife downstairs sleeping in front of the t.v. )

I found the commentary with Wes and Owen on "Bottle Rocket" to quite enjoyable. I suggest it for anyone that hasn't listened to it, yet.
